Gurley believes Thursday games are 'dumbest thing ever'

The Los Angeles Rams face off against the Seattle Seahawks in this week's edition of Thursday Night Football, much to Todd Gurley's displeasure.

"You know how I feel about Thursday night games," Gurley told reporters following the Rams' loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, according to ESPN's Lindsey Thiry. "I feel like they are the dumbest thing ever."

To make matters worse for Los Angeles and its star running back, the team must travel to Seattle for the matchup.

"For the most part, if you aren't really battling injuries or stuff like that, Thursday is kind of like a day you usually feel good anyway," Gurley said. "(The Seahawks) played on Sunday, as well. ... We just have a quick turnaround to go up to Seattle."

The 25-year-old has never been fond of short-week and international contests. The Rams will travel to London for a Week 8 bout with the Cincinnati Bengals.

I hate staying up that late on work nights... but I shouldn't complain because I love to watch all of them. I usually fall asleep before they end though... except if it's our Rams playing.

I'm gonna be tired AF on Friday.

He's always said that. Lots of players feel the same way. I think a simple solution is to start thursday night games after week 4 and only have them when a team comes off a bye. They could make that work it would just take a little thought.

It's also something they could negotiate with the new CBA, especially if we go to a 18 game season.

I like them because I have Thurs-Sat off. The only way I can see the whole game without taking the day off is Thursday night games. Sunday & Monday nights I miss the 1st qtr, sometimes more if I get off late. I do plan to go to the Monday nighter vs baltimore though, should be a good game.

you must be a fun person to work for

I said I would say that if they cried around like the players do . That's the problem with the younger generation . Everyone needs treated with kid gloves , when all you should do is what is asked and quit complaining. Larry Fitzgerald is a perfect example of how to handle yourself on and off the field. Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods remind me of him .

I don’t particularly like sitting up till 5 am to watch you play or getting up at 4.00am to watch the recorded game because I couldn’t get the day off work (in a job which pays considerably less than you earn )

I do it because I bleed gold and blue .. less
Complaining more running Todd

The problem with doing it after the bye week is that the team would have to play Thursday night then have two days off then play another game the following Sunday.

Noooo, you have a bye week (sunday off) then come back the next week and instead of playing sunday you play a couple of days earlier. Yes it cuts your bye week by 3 days but it offsets itself because you'll have an extended week after your thursday night game. That's really the only way you can fix Thursday night.

I like the routine of watching Sunday games for the Rams. Last week's TNF game Packers vs. Eagles was entertaining. If they are good matchup it's nice to have especially early in the season from a fan's viewpoint.

I understand objections from Gurley's and the player's perspective. He certainly has the right to voice his opinion even if it goes against the CBA. Reporters know what his answer is going to be before they ask the question. Hard to take it away now. I think the 16 game season if fine too.

They’re only stupid when it’s a short week. Like almost everyone has said, just give them to teams coming out of a bye. Derp.

Flag on the play!

Personal foul. Lack of blue font while describing a horrific outcome. 15 post penalty from the spot of the foul. Play will begin at the whistle.

*blows whistle*
