Not much expertise but I don’t see how he has a case, they were using the team email. Seems like the nfl could do whatever they want with them, he might be right but I don’t know if he has a case.
I agree. It’s not his private E-mails or on a private server of his. Say stupid stuff for others to read then you should know it’s a risk to do so. It seems arrogant to me.
If others have similar emails or things that are swept under the rug while he was targeted. That's called discrimination. What he did is besides the point. ALL who have broken the woke rules or whatever you wanna call it should have the same punishment as gruden. To single someone out is gonna get the NFL into trouble. It'll come out at this point. If I were gruden I hope he doesn't settle w the NFL. I hope he take them to court and makes it public. Time to cancel the cancelers. Just my opinion anyway
Maybe his E-mails were the only ones that went that far. I’m not a Goodell fan but I wouldn’t be surprised if Goodell ordered that they’d be leaked because his ego was bruised.

Isn’t Goodell himself a lawyer? Doesn’t the NFL employ some big time lawyers? Is it really likely that the leaking of the E-mails wasn't first scrutinized by Goodell and the lawyers before they made the decision?

IMO Gruden’s emails were the tip of the iceberg. The NFL and Raiders organization used them as a reason to remove a malignant cancer.

Private conversations should absolutely stay private but if you talk shit on your boss and disparage pretty much everyone else on a company server, you shouldn’t be surprised if they hang you out to dry.
Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences.

Who said it was a company server? I haven't been able to even hear what the emails said, nonetheless WHERE they were said. From what I know, it was done in private emails.

You, me, @Loyal , @blackbart , @Mackeyser, and probably a few others are ex-sailors ... yeah, we're all guilty of that shit :laugh2:

I'm not normally a fan of the constant personal results, and while it would be correct to say I hate Goodell, it would be more correct to say I fucking hate Goodell. So I want his ass to be sued until he's a homeless dude who has to blow wino's to get money to buy crack. In other words, I don't like him ...
Nah....Really how do you feel about him

Out of hundreds of thousands of emails. I'm sure there are a plenty of inappropriate subjects. Which is why I'm sure gruden is making this a thing. Otherwise he'd be on a beach somewhere.

Lol. Ok ok we get it. Lets clean it up a little tho so we can keep this thread going.

The nfl was investigating the claims of workplace harassment in the wft, there are claims of inappropriate photos taken and shared of cheerleaders among other things, that’s why they’re digging around in emails. If someone’s private emails were leaked you can bet there’d be a lawsuit to keep all this stuff out of the hands of the nfl. Gruden wasn’t in the nfl at the time but his buddy was and they both should’ve been smarter. Given the level of paranoia in the nfl the emails are probably pretty secure from outsiders.
Gruden probably was singled out and yeah, I’d like to see what else is in these emails but just like a certain video recording it’ll probably never see the light of day.

Conjecture. Among those supposed E-mails how many slander Goodell?

I know it’s possible but in this current social state of our country, don’t you think most people would choose not to write anything that could incriminate them? Most people are smart enough to not give evidence of their opinions by putting them in writing. I know that I wouldn’t. I hope others are smart enough not to. McVay likely had his E-mails read. Do you think he said similar things? In them? Did Shanahan?

Gruden is right. You can bet many others in the NFL have dirty laundry that is being hidden. He was selectively targeted.
Everybody has dirty laundry, I don’t care who you are. Personally, I hope he wins.

I don‘t know if this thread can stay open, but willing to give it a shot.

This was, IMO, nothing more than the NFL diverting the spotlight from one of its own. Poof. Nobody even talking about the WFT accusations anymore. It's comical how corrupt this league is.....

At the end of the day it's all about winning and a strong personality may make a person more expendable. However, the NFL is dirty and they did him dirty.

They wouldn’t care if it was on his own system. Having an opinion that goes against the PC bullshit in this nation gets you hang out even if your right. You’d think we’d had enough of the pussification mob mentality to put an end to it.

Key word. You said in this current state. They're pulling up emails from ten years or more ago. There's no current state when you can go back in time and punish someone for something they said a decade ago. You asked a question about other coaches emails...the whole point of him suing the NFL is so it's brought out into the open. Obviously he knows something that we do not. Or at least he thinks he does.

You have to remember there are thousands and thousands of emails not just from today's coaches but from coaches over ten years ago.

Those emails would still have been inappropriate a decade ago so this doesn't wash.

If they had been truly private emails I doubt they would have been leaked, but they were sent from Grudens ESPN email address to Bruce Allen's WFT/NFL email address. There are consequences for misuse of company property. Nobody gives a shit if he is an arrogant jerk who makes racist, sexist and homophobic comments in private, but these were work emails. That makes them inappropriate and made his position untenable.

Having said all that it is still really weird that only Gruden has had anything leaked. He was definitely targeted.

Yeah I mean which one is worse... A coach who talks shit about people and fired off some insensitive asshole emails or an owner who refused to change the name of his team even after years and years of native Americans protesting about it. And did not change the name until there was enough movement to where he had zero choice.

I said years ago that he should have changed the team name. Or I have been saying it so I assume I said it here. But either way if I were the owner I would have found some common ground with the group or at least tried to and even made a deal with them for a community club box or something. The real problem here is basic humanity. It's one thing to make BS remarks and we all do it. But it's another to have long term actions that shit on the sensitivities of an entire group just because rebranding would be an inconvenience.

I like when people fight back.
Oh, IDK....
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volleyed and thundered;
Stormed at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of hell
Rode the six hundred.
