Not all of the E-mails were ten years old. Some were more recent. And maybe I should have said the state of the social scene for the last decade. Or at least since Kaepernick kneeling on the field about 5-6 years ago.Key word. You said in this current state. They're pulling up emails from ten years or more ago. There's no current state when you can go back in time and punish someone for something they said a decade ago. You asked a question about other coaches emails...the whole point of him suing the NFL is so it's brought out into the open. Obviously he knows something that we do not. Or at least he thinks he does.
You have to remember there are thousands and thousands of emails not just from today's coaches but from coaches over ten years ago.
The raiders were the first NFL team to hire a black coach and females in management. Could they risk this coming out later, then have fans and the press finding out that they knew for years? The way it was handled likely felt to the league that acting fast was the best image for the league. And if they already knew about Gruden this makes it look like they just discovered it.
I’m just trying to picture how this went down from the leagues standpoint. I think in this case the league said, “Uh oh, if this gets out and the press finds that we didn’t act, then this will look very bad for us…. especially considering the number of minority players and fans across the country. They just worked to repair the damage from the kneeling. They don’t want more bad press.
They may already have figured that Gruden would sue, and maybe win, as being a worthy consequence to them outing him, and saving face in the long run.
