We will regret not locking up Legatron. He had a down year in 2019, but this year will be FABULOUS.

Gotta lock him up if the breed of reliable kickers has reached its end. There's a lot worse shit out there.

By prove it I mean 3 things.

1. First and foremost that he can stay healthy. He missed 2 games in 2017, 5 games in 2018 and battled nagging issues all season last year.

2. Return to consistency with his kicks. 2016 86.4%, 2017 95%, 2018 87% and in 2019 72.7% with 2 kickoffs OOB. That's a big dropoff. More importantly, when you break down his misses disturbingly he was only 5 of 11 (45.5%) in distances of 40-49 yds. That was a huge dropoff over his career numbers. His OOB kicks coupled with his inaccuracy in the 40's is reason for concern. Any other kicker would not be re-signed.

3. He will be 33 in December. How much longer can he play? Was last year an aberration or the beginning of the end?

The bottom line is McVay needs to drill down on the cause for Greg's issues. Age, injury, or both related? It's not what you would expect from a veteran in a contract year. The kicking game is far too important, as it cost probably 2 games.

The Rams should move on, they have come close to walking away from him a couple of times & have not given him long term deals.
I’m not sure about who The Rams might bring in, but Snead & scouts are good at finding value.

I”ll say this about Greg the Leg. He has made some seriously Big Kicks!!

I’ve lost money because of his misses, but he has one through. That 52 year FG was nice against the 9ers. Yes he missed an earlier kick in the game as well. He had a groin injury. He has had back issues as well. 2017 playoffs ?? Who was The Rams kicker ??

Greg's injury history and down year this year are probably the only reasons that we have a shot at resigning him. In some ways, his play this year put us in the ideal situation of signing him without possibly breaking the bank.

Sure, I fear Dallas but I imagine that paying their QB will put them in about the same position as us.

I've rarely scoffed at any of the 50+ misses by the Leg. I feel like he's been disappointing in the 40-49 range for a Kicker with his reputation and status. I'm probably too hard on the guy, although he was bad in that range last season.

Also, i haven't seen a stat that gives a +/- quality of importance to these kicks in terms of game situations...PFF prob tracks that, not sure, but i feel like his misses in that 40-49 range are usually killers.
I've always said that i'd rather have a kicker who's nails from 35-45 than a kicker who is capable of hitting the 55-60 yard bomb every now & then.

The team I would worry about is a mid-west team, that plays in a dome, needs to replace their kicker and has tons of cap space.

I am signing GZ all the way.

Re-watched the NFC title game against New Orleans last night... those two late kicks were about as money as could be under pressure.
I watched it yesterday too, the condensed version! Saints and Saints fans went all 49's 4th quarter celebration, thinking the game was over when it was 13-0. These are the fricken Sean McVay "We Don't Flinch If The Face Of Adversity" Los Angeles Rams. Goff was incredible. GZ even better. Please sign him back! My only beef with his performance is that he needs to work on his Pre-Superbowl Rally Speech. When they handed him the mic at the Sofi Rally, he wasn't prepared and shanked it wide right! LOL!

I watched the first Seattle game yesterday and the guy has deteriorated physically me thinks. He needs to take a year off and let his body heal IMO. Those 2 kicks he missed were horrendous and his mechanics don't seem like the normal Greg which leads me to beleive he's fighting through pain. ( or issues)

I'd rather bring Bailey in for a mill anyways or draft a guy. It's time we find a replacement for Greg, and it pains me to say it. We especially don't have the money this year for him plus I really think Jerry and the Cowboys will sign him with Bones there at probably 2.5 a year.

It was a weird year for him in that range. I wonder if they were on the longer end?

40-49 is a wide range.

There are a lot of clubs looking for kickers this offseason. I like Blankenship but I think you're talking about more like round 4 or round 5 when it all plays out.

Until he lines up for a 59 yard kick in post season....Believe me when Zuerlein missed against Seattle and some others, I was upset, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt. My only issue with GZ is, he seems to get hurt more then most kickers and if the Rams were to sign Ka'imi Fairbairn (Texans) from UCLA , who is 6 years younger and was better from 40-49 yards I would understand.

Personally, I don't like the idea of spending all the way to the top of the salary cap on quality players like Jalen Ramsey, Aaron Donald, Jared Goff, etc... and then having a game or two come down to whether a rookie or journeyman kicker can hit a field goal. I would rather have GZ try that kick.
