I have no beef with grooming him from the bench. The way preseason has gone, he won't be there long.

I'm very happy Joseph is playing so well.

Just a reminder of why I did not like this pick when it was made

Who was the last number 2 overall pick not to start game 1? Everyone from 2008 did, but can't find game by game data dating back further.
Everyone from 2008? Wouldn't that be one player?

Not sure who the last #2 overall pick not to start game one but IIRR it didn't use to be all that abnormal for any rookie to sit and learn.

I don't know how accurate the Rams site depth chart is...but GRob is listed as starting LG. I'll stand with the coaches!!! If they trot him out there to start...SO BE IT!!!

Saffold will be hurt before the bye week. GRob will be in there soon enough.
You can bust on me all you want for being negative. Bookmark this post...I DARE YA!
There should be a Sportsbook wager on when Long and/or Saffold go down this year. (Maybe there is, I haven't checked in a long time). What's the over/under week for each? I guess we should define "hurt" as well. I'm going with having to miss reps in a game. Might even add Wells into this wager.

Yep - I also would have been happy with Mike Evans or Jake Long if we went lineman, as I had mentioned several times...
Sammy had 3 catches for 21 yards in pre-season play. While it is only pre-season that put him at #422 in receiving yards. And - um.... we already have Jake Long.

Lucky for you, we got both.

lmao you know I meant Jake Matthews
And what Watkins does with Manuel isn't the same thing he'd be doing with Bradford/Hill - but I'd be 100% confident he'd be starting

Every year there are rookies starting now that have no business in the starting lineup. Why? Their teams either have no other options and/or believe in just sticking a kid out there to learn on the fly.

Example: A RAW Stephen Hill had no business starting with the Jets as a rookie. Posters busted the Rams balls for Quick not starting immediately using him as an example and now look at them. Quick is starting for the Rams and Hill is out of a job and has already cleared waivers.

I'm tired of Saffold's fragility. It's gotten to the point where you just KNOW he's going to get dinged and either leave the game and return, or leave the game and need a couple weeks, or leave the game and go on IR again.

it's a different animal when you're discussing Top 5 picks, especially if they're not a QB...

It's also a different animal when discussing a team making a selection that high whose record didn't reflect such a selection. Better team / more talented team. BPA also comes into play. And sometimes the BPA doesn't play a position with an immediate need.

In the end, chances are that if the Rams hadn't acquired former Pro Bowler Davin Joseph, then Robinson would have been in the starting lineup ready or not. Would that have made him any better selection? Hardly.

Yeah, this isn't very good news. All summer to learn audibles and who to block, etc? #2 pick overall (that's not a QB) and can't start the season? Dang man, he better turn out to be the mauler that we know he is ... and soon. We were COUNTING on him for our run first offense.

In no way do I think this is a bad thing. It's just a little disappointing, but DJ is playing better right now. Greg will come around a be a great player for a long time.

I got blasted talking like this on another thread although I didn't question the pick, so this time around my opinion is No Comment!
