Yeah, I have no ill will towards Goff. It was frustrating to me that for all we gave up, he didn't turn out to be a Mahomes level impact player, but that was never going to happen and the Rams adjusted by getting a proven commodity.

You have to admit, this play is a perfect reflection of what bothers me most about today's NFL. Goff on this play, and Stafford on what seems like a few plays per game, get rocked late or in the neck and head area and the refs see it and don't call it. Meanwhile, if Mahomes gets sacked or hit a nanosecond after ball leaves hand, that flag is coming out immediately. Sometimes when he DOESN'T even get touched, in fact.

Both Mahomes and Allen (and who knows, maybe wunderkind Daniels soon will) know how to exploit this and it makes it 1000% worse to watch.

I digress.
I have nothing against Mahomes or Allen and I 100% understand protecting star players.
It’s just super hard to watch rules that seem so blatantly different that allow Chiefs and Bills to know that D’s have to play differently for fear of 15 yard flag

Goff stunk up the field. But I like the guy and generally root for him. We were losers when we drafted him #1. He helped turn the franchise around. The Lions were losers when they acquired him. He helped turn that franchise around. I have no hard feelings towards him.

Apologies to Goff...but he's with Captain Caveman's team of little Ankle Biting Kittens. There's no way in the fiery pits of hell nor the pearly gates of heaven I'd root for Captain Caveman.

I'll make a petition to @Selassie I : if the Commodes have their name, I want my nickname for Dan Campbell to be used as a standard. I hate that snotnosed little punk more than I think I've ever hated an opposing coach since Belicheat and Asshole Face. Not even Pete the Cheat or Shanahan has drawn my ire this much.

I have never seen a QB get more hate, for not being top 5ish at his position, than Jared Goff.

Dude is tough as nails physically and mentally. He never misses games. He has incredible resilience to bounce back after being cast off from LA. Great arm talent. Can make all the throws. Sure, he needs a good o-line, but that is just life as a pocket passer. He has brought THREE programs now from uncompetitive to winning football (Cal, Rams, Lions). Statistically he is right up there. He gets no respect from anyone and always gets dumped on. It makes no sense. I'd take him over Kirk Cousins (even before he fell off) any day. Brock Purdry. Jimmy G back when he was still starting. But when it comes to being clowned on, for whatever reason, there is only one QB people want to see...

Stafford is way better. Which is great for us. But he is in a very elite class.

I've always personally liked Goff. One of my favorite interviews was after the win over the Saints in the playoffs. He was asked about the penalty and he goes "what penalty, did they call one?"

I just don't want the Lions winning the SB until long after he, the Caveman, and the dirty as fuck guy are no longer there.

I don't hate Goff, I just felt he doesn't have "IT" when it's time to go out there and put the team on your shoulders and win the game.
He does great when everything around him is optimal, but he struggles when things aren't perfect.
That translates well to the regular season, but when you come up against adversity in the playoffs, against some really tough defenses, it's not so good.
I'm not sure he will ever be able to win it all, and that's why McVay traded him away.

I like watching Goff.
Me too, he throws a really good looking ball. Very good touch on it when he throws deep too. Remember his deep shot to Cooks against the Saints in the NFC Final? To this day, I think his fake handoff on play action might be the best and most convincing in the NFL. It is so fluid. When he is "on", it is so entertaining, everything looks so calm, cool, collected, and effortless as he throws perfectly placed pass after perfectly placed pass into tight windows.

EDIT - Though I still prefer watching #9's patented come from behind marches down field. Nothing like it. All those late wins in our '21 Super Bowl run were unbelievable. I was convinced Stafford was going to pull another rabbit out of the hat vs. Philly. It will take me a long while to get get over it. The Rams had that game won, and I don't see them losing to Washington at home....

These Goff posts seem to appear after we've lost and our season is gone, maybe as a means to cope.

Nobody knows who would have won and where and against whom and with who.

Football is a magical game like that, says King Dilfer.

I think he can but he definitely needs a defense that doesn't give up 38 points in the playoffs even with the turnovers. (Not counting the 7 points that was scored on an interception return).

That's too rough.

We had 2 turnovers and only gave up 6 points on them.

If they had the right OL set up for that last play - we win that game with a pass to Higbee over the middle.

Limmer should not have been 1 on 1 with Carter.

Kind of like how the Eagles NEVER had Donald 1 on 1. They ALWAYS had two to three guys on Donald. They made sure he wasn't going to win the game for the Rams.

I’m loving Goff’s implosion. But, it’s not because I hate him. I hate the bandwagon Lions fans that told me all year that Goff was the best QB in the NFC.

One Lions fan even told me that Stafford wouldn’t be able to effectively run the Lions offense. :laugh4:

Another one told me that Goff is the best QB in the league under pressure. I told him to wait until the playoffs.

The Lions have an offense constructed to take a lot of pressure off of Jarred. When it’s up to him to win against a good defense is when the warts start to show. Give him a nice lead and control the game by running the ball and he will carve anyone up.

I have been a big Goff fan from afar since he was traded. I truly felt like we had our franchise QB for the next 15-20 years when we drafted him. The 2018 season was magical and I’ll never forget it.

I think you can do ALOT worse than Jared Goff. Dude is already top 40 in almost every passing category. One of my favorite games of his was the Seattle playoff victory where he played with 9 fingers. The shot vs the Commodes proved it, but he is one of the toughest QBs in the league.

I personally have enjoyed watching Goff, Campbell and the Lions have success. I love the story and the team has some great people. Not sure why people hate Campbell but to each their own.

Last thing about Goff, I think it’s a little silly to say he doesn’t have “IT”. You don’t do what he’s done in the NFL without that ability to step up at the highest amount of pressure. It’s the big league man. It’s REALLY hard to win and he’s taken two teams to the NFC championship and one to the Super Bowl. And he played great in some very big games.
