Yeah I mean why would a 28 year old in his 5th year in the NFL look more comfortable in his 2nd year of this offense than a 21 year old rookie who received a fraction of the preseason work from the coaches.
Goff looked really good today.

Case Keenum was starting year two under the same Scheme, OC, etc... he was the declared starter. Goff was learning a lot more then just the play calls and scheme.. This year is different, better focus on getting Goff up to speed as the #1. He was declared the #2 so Kennum was the focus last year.
Meh. They didn't really have similar circumstances though. This team gave up right around the Saints game. Keenum was part of a 3 game losing streak that saw the offense score 10, 10 and 9 points. Also, y'all give Keenum a bad rap. He made some great plays for us last year and on a team with elite players he can win games. I just think Goff came into a terrible situation that any rookie would not be able to overcome.
I just saw an interview with Andrew Whitworth, on the Official Ram site,( I don't have the Link!) He said when asked about Goff. " .. He's more like Carson Palmer than Andy Dalton..." as far as the attitude, and approach to things! That sounds like a good thing to me!
All the QBs look good this time of year with no pass rush and no contact. We'll see.

And Goff was the overall #1 pick- I would have expected the talent and pedigree Goff has to at least show better than CK did under similar circumstances.

Physically it did show through, mentally he didn't have the same amount of work in as Keenum and it showed and should be pretty obvious why there was a comfort level difference.
I'm as big a fan of Goff as there is, but I think the idea that his failure last year is 100% on Fisher, and not on him at all is really off the mark. Even at 9010 on Fisher there is some room for doubt. I agree the team quit, was a bad sitch and all that, but still and all once Goff finally did get to play, he got progressively worse, culminating in the crap sandwich he threw against San Fran. 49ers were getting ripped for 30-40 a game heading in to that game, and Goff looked terrible
Do I have high hopes for him?

Right now it's all about learning. Sounds like Goff is getting command of the less wordy McVay offense from many different reports. It's not game action but, as they say here in Phila it's the process of:
Learning the offense
Learning the proper reads of the defense
Learning to make the proper adjustments
Everything points to Goff having both the brain power and work ethic to learn all of these things. Then his physical talents will take over. He has the arm the and the footwork which will allow him to put it all together.
Right now it's all about learning. Sounds like Goff is getting command of the less wordy McVay offense from many different reports. It's not game action but, as they say here in Phila it's the process of:

Roger's statement confirms what a lot of us were just guessing at. That OL coach Paul Boudreau was basicly ineffective as teacher and coach. The younger players were frustrated and Boo couldn't answer their questions. Why couldn't Fisher see that?
Given all that, it gives me hope that all the failure on the OL rest mostly with the coaching, and guys like GRob (who IMHO never got the coaching and teaching he so desperately needed to play LT) were left clueless, and this set of coaches will provide proper coaching and teaching.
You folks hard on GRob are missing the mark. He has plenty of incentive and puts in the work. He desperately wants to be a good player. Everyone knew he wasn't taught how to play T in the NFL at Auburn. It was Paul Boudreau's job and he failed miserably to teach GRob (and anyone else for that matter).
Now its up to new OL coach Kromer and his staff. I will not call GRob a "bust" until I see what this staff does. If a second set of coaches can't bring GRob up to NFL standards, THEN he is a "bust".

In games 1 and 2, I could buy that. But he got worse not better. Looked more shaken, less confident.
Ummm..no. I am sure he looks great throwing a football around. My point was that it would be understandable if neither he nor Sean looked like they knew this scheme inside and out after a few off season practices. That's all.

Fisher made a strategic decision for years to eschew veteran players who could lead through example and give tips for being the youngest team and "coaching" up his talent. Maybe it was cause the Rams were so snakebitten by injuries to FA vet acquisitions, maybe they were saving to pay for the guys we lost last year (that's a whole nother thing), whatever reason, it was the wrong decision. And we paid for it.
Negative. My point is that the number 1 pick in the draft has better look good in his second year of OTA's regardless if it's in a new system or not. ( especially with a competent offensive coaching staff and with no pads or pass rush) Otherwise that was a whole lot to pay for someone who can't get his wits about him.

I have a good feeling about Mr. Goff, just think it will take home longer to get adjusted coming from the Bear RAID offense. I just pray he doesn't get injured so it doesn't hamper his development.
