Yes. They sniffed it, but had back-to back- to back - to back offensive penalties. Backing them up to midfield. 4 in a row I believe.

Very undisciplined team, those Aints

Might have been some cadence and synch issues after Bridgewater took over, all the penalties.

Yea, ive never heard of "roughing the passer" before the ball leaves the qbs hands...

Actually nm. I forgot you cant put full force on the qb anymore. In that case lets jist be glad Matthews didnt get called for it. I thought Bridgewater was dead after that hit. Lol

I didn’t think he landed on him, he nailed him pretty good but it was nothing like what happened to Foles.

Copied from another forum.

A passer who is standing still or fading backward after the ball has left his hand is obviously out of the play and must not be unnecessarily contacted by an opponent through the end of the down or until the passer becomes a blocker, or a runner, or, in the event of a change of possession during the down, until he assumes a distinctly defensive position. However, at any time after the change of possession, it is a foul if:

  1. an opponent forcibly hits the quarterback’s head or neck area with his helmet, facemask, forearm, or shoulder
  2. if an opponent lowers his head and makes forcible contact with any part of his helmet against any part of the passer’s body. This provision does not prohibit incidental contact by the mask or the helmet in the course of a conventional block.
I guess we just have to face the fact that Goff isn’t going to get calls like Brady and Brees but you’ve seen it called roughing even when the defender gets near the qbs head, let alone whacking him in the head.
I’d like to see the all 22 because the whistle was blown pretty much as soon as the ball hit the ground. Was Jordan the only one who didn’t hear it? Of course the narrative train is already rolling and the talking heads don’t want to hear anything about roughing or that half the guys may have stopped running.

The only reason he was able to run it back was that the whistle blew and everyone but 3 guys stopped play. So, claiming they were robbed of a score is fallacious.

I dunno fellas. I rewatched the play today multiple times and I just don't see a roughing the passer penalty. Bottom line is that the only way the Taints would have won this game is by an act of God! Even with that TD.

The roughing penalty that wasnt called was the DL that hit Goff in the head after the fumble. He was coming from the front of Goff, the hit that caused the fumble was clean, but doesnt give the rest of the DL a free shot at the QB.

It's not going to be popular to say, but ticky tack as some of the calls have seemed, I think the game has actually improved as the officials are now encouraged to call everything instead of evening out missed calls for the flow of the game.
I couldn't disagree more with this. The games have no flow anymore. Too many flag infested momentum thuds and worst of all is that IMO the culture of the game has shifted heavily towards the officiating in all circles of discussion. In game commentating, media shows, water cooler talk, everywhere.
"Was it....wasn't it? Shoulda been called, yeah but was the knee down, yeah but did he have control, lets look at that again" blah blah blah.

You can't go more than a few plays without the validity of a play being questioned and pondered and scrutinized anymore. All the judgement rules....Its a joke.

tom brady once got flicked by a pinky finger on 3rd and long, which he didn't convert, and got a roughing penalty. it was against the ravens in the ray lewis days and it came at a critical part of the game.

disgusting the way the refs pander to that guy. and they wonder why he can still play at 40+ years of age.

I would hit him late and take penalties. You loose any way if you don't. Come in low in front of him. He is way to comfortable. Defend all receivers at the line of scrimmage, even if you get burned deep a few times. Anything to make him hold the ball long enough to hit him.

Get used to the new NFL. Each play is being called tighter (I’d like to compare Holding calls after 2 weeks compared to last year) and safer (quicker whistles, illegal hits). Coaches asked for it and they got it. No game should be blamed on a call or 2 going against one team. Players and Coaches need to “Ice Up Son” and dominate on the next play.
