When this season is over and the post-mortem is complete, it will really be tough to figure out the main culprit, with so many suspects:
- Terrible luck with O-line injuries. Just brutal to lose top eight, nine players. Not sure any team has the depth to overcome that type of attrition in a crucial position group. Just destroyed the offense.
- Loss of talent, both coaches and players to other teams. Think we do not miss O'Donnell a bit, and of course players like Miller? The win/loss difference in the NFL is so thin, losing any continuity/talent hurts.
- Draft strategy. Eventually, regardless of the short-term result, a constant lack of high picks means either a loss of talent/depth, or, if you go our route and go for big pieces in trades, an inevitable issue with cap space. And problems when those expensive pieces age or get injured.
- Super Bowl hangover. 17 SB winners failed to even make the playoffs the following season.
