Soccer's championship game is the most boring anticlimactic game of the whole tournament. When was the last time the tournament winner won by something other than 1-0. I will only watch that game again if the USA is in it.

I got tired of the constantly going backwards and the keep away game. Nothing more boring than a game of keep away. They need a clock and a red line. If you take more than a minute to cross the red line the other team gets to take a penalty shot. LOL. A little ridiculas. But they need something. I mean if they are going to add 10 minutes to half time and taking breaks for quarters, they have opened the door to more Americanizing of the game.

Once you’ve been exposed to American football, watching soccer is like watching 4 corners basketball. It’s almost impossible for fans to adjust to the strategic but laborious pace.

The world cup is finally over...
About Time GIF

While I acknowledge that this final was the worst in the history of the competition, i find it humorous that people that can watch baseball and basketball call soccer boring.

.

I wasn't bored at all by that game. It was clear that Spain had control, but they aren't the greatest at converting opportunities and Argentina is good at converting, so were dangerous to them until Spain got that goal. I mean even after the goal Argentina whiffed on a couple good chances.

But then I like defense. I appreciate how Spain plays, cutting off the passing lanes and disciplined in spacing and all that. Though I admit I prefer the vert passes splitting defenders more etc, the more beautiful games with skill on display. In a way though soccer is like the NFL in that in the big games preventing the other team from scoring is crucial. So the great defenses tend to end up in them.

Those of you that think it's boring should have watched England's 6-4 demolition of the French in the third-place playoff.

Having said that, it was a game for the purists. Which is a euphemism for "a bit boring."

But, I've watched scores of boring American football games, and I've watched scores of incredible, entertaining soccer games.

Most people I know who watch American football to begin with think it's boring. It's all stop-start, advert breaks, people talking in huddles, and very little action.

It's only the people that stick with it and start to understand the nuances that realise how exciting it can be.

Most sports are boring if you don't understand them, just like most soap operas are boring if you just dip in every now and then, and a lot of music isn't enjoyable when you first hear it.

It's fine to say you personally haven't got into football, but to call the most popular game on the planet, and by a long way, boring is a bit silly, if you ask me.

There are no boring sports. Only sports you don't understand. Except baseball. That's boring as fuck.

What I can't stand is the constant flopping and the act of pretending like a sniper just blew off your leg every time you get tripped up. It makes the sport a joke. WWE looks more realistic than those clowns writhing around on the grass. Today it looked like it was the game plan of Argentina. Grab, hold, then fall down in order to get free kicks.

Well although I follow the Dodgers, I can't really pay attention to the game until the last couple of innings when it gets tense except for when Vin Scully was calling the games. He could make any game interesting with his stories.

And basketball was only really exciting in the 80s. Now I can't watch it. The 2000s was only good for me since I liked Kobe. You always knew you were in the game no matter how far down the Lakers were. Some of the greatest playoff games had the Lakers in them during the 2000s.

Soccer is just as boring like baseball until the final minutes of the game.

Have them only watch the replays of the games where they only see the plays. Everything else is cut out. Can watch a game in 30 minutes that way.

That kind of proves my point.

I wouldn't tell anybody to watch soccer that way if they want to understand and like it. Similarly, I wouldn't ask anybody to watch football that way.

You lose all sense of the flow of the game and what makes it exciting by just editing it down to highlights.

I bet there aren't that many people on this board who developed a love of football by watching 30 minute edits.

Can't watch Soccer that way. You would cut out the majority of the gameplay whereas the 30 minute edits in football shows all plays just not the time during the huddle and commercials. The only time you could cut out in soccer is when the player is running over to the sidelines to throw in the ball and we are talking seconds.

If you already had the love of the game.World Cup is special, but there’s a lot of games.Once you know the score it’s easy to fast forward.
Seeing the game flow is important, but time out of your Life.

I’ll never get that time back I lost watching, but then again lucky enough to be able to still do the things I get to do.imo there is a fine line .

Baseball can at least have a lot of scoring and has all of the strategy, if not more, of soccer.

Soccer couldn't score if it was a hot woman who's a sex-addict.

The best thing about the 4 corners tactic is it caused the shot clock.

You make a good point. LOL.
