17 David Carr shut the hell up- It was so nice to see Carr on the postgame on the NFL Network admit how good Goff is. Of course he picked his brother before the season to his top 10 QB list and left Goff off the top 10 list. Sucks to admit you are wrong but you had to do exactly that tonight.

Missed that dammit. Must have been great to watch. (y)

I think Shields will get a lot better....mentally, and his endurance needs bit, too.
Surprised Peters played.....looked a bit tenative and a stop slow.

Hope you're right but at some point Shields is gonna be Shields. He'll never be strong on run support. He'll always be a ballhawk but also a guy who gets caught peering into the backfield and QBs who know how to use their eyes can work him over with that. I am sure that the staff is workin hard with him, and I'm hopeful. But our secondary is going to struggle vs good offenses until we get Talib back.

I made mention in the game day thread during the Oakland Raiders game that we were witnessing the beginning of a dynasty. It only has gotten better after each game. The way this team runs it's plays with precision, the adjustments during the game (something horribly missing in prior coaching), the whole We not Me concept. I can't get enough of it!

I'm with you my man. The only question in my mind is the defense. Offense is going to be rippin up this league for years. Defense has to get there if they want to be a dynasty. They're really close, and are probably an edge rusher and CB away.

7 Franklin-Myers - Great forced fumble to seal the game. But watch the tape and you will see he is very slow to the QB. I don't see him as a long term solution as an edge rusher the way they are trying to use him. He does provide power to collapse the pocket but doesn't have the quickness to be a force in this league. Sorry, just watch the tape and you will see.

B. As already stated Christian and Wilson need to be replaced. Barron and someone else. My vote is Kiser.

Just a couple thoughts of my own:
John Franklin-Myers - He's in a tough spot. He's not an EDGE in our scheme. He's a guy who will replace Brockers at the end of Brockers' deal. He's playing EDGE right now because that's where we need him. He'll do quite well as a 5-Tech for us imo.

Christian and Wilson - Barron fixes this problem by himself. We're replacing Wilson with Christian because Christian is a better athlete who isn't a total running game liability. Barron combines both skill-sets. He's an oversized safety. We're really missing Barron right now. Him next to Littleton should solve some of our coverage woes. Kiser isn't the answer imo. He's more similar to Littleton.

Great review and post TexasRam. Enjoyed your views!

We are a few defensive stops a game away from being a terrifyingly good team!

Thanks. Lots of good follow up comments, points of insight from others.

Re: Jrry’s comments on Franklin Myers; Makes sense on him playing out of place. I can see him as a force inside, replacing Brockers, at some point this year we have to find an answer on the edge.

The one thing that really stood out to me was on the touchdown to cooks. Not the fact that it was a great pass because that spoke for itself. It was that McVay/Goff immediately noticed that on the previous play Xavier Rhodes gets the 15 yard penalty for kicking the flag and gets yanked probably only for 1 play. Why is this important? Well you guessed it, Rhodes always follows the #1 receiver around, in this case Cooks. Instead Trae Waynes gets Cooks for 1 play and the rest is history.

Yeah, I (and probably everyone in the world) mentioned that Rhodes was out in the GDT and that they should target his backup immediately. Which they of course did. They also abused the hell out of Anthony Barr in that game. lol. He didn't stand a chance against guys like Kupp and Woods. Though, on that first TD to Kupp, I'm sure Barr wasn't the designated defender. He just ended up that way after they bit on the play-action and Kupp flashed right across his face on his way to paydirt. Probably the best thing about this offense is their ability to create mismatches and exploit them.
