Lotsa over reactions IMHO. Forbes "has trouble with big receivers"? We can count on one hand the number of CBs who don't have some trouble with big receivers. We lost because we turned the ball over 3 times (and it could be said, "we were due"). Once in the red zone where 3 points was the least we could have scored. Once on a pick 6 giving them 7 points. And finally on our last possession when we were in FG range. So by my count that's a -13, possibly a -21 and we lost by 3. Should have been at least 10 point win, possibly more. Get back on that horse and put another nice streak together.

Again. With. Absolutely. Zero. Proof. When all evidence to the contrary exists.

Read where he utterly shut down Jaxon Smith-Njigba, - arguably one of the single best receivers in the NFL - and held him to three catches for thirty yards on five targets while being matched up against him TWENTY times, which is more than ANY cornerback has been matched up against JSN ALL YEAR (all of his remaining yards were gained on other corners).

Read where he had a five-pass-break-up, one pick game against Tampa Bay, where he was targeted seven times and didn't allow a completion - which a defensive back hadn't done since 2022.

Read where he leads the team in interceptions along with Durant, where he dominated Shaheed, Godwin, Egbuka, etc. in his matchups; where his passer-rating-against was the lowest amongst NFL cornerbacks from Week 6 to this week and is still the lowest for a qualified outside cornerback; where he has thirteen passes defensed, not including interceptions, which is fourth in the entire league; where he's had the top coverage grade of any cornerback from the 49ers first game to before this Panthers game.

Read where he's stepped up massively in run defense, hasn't allowed extra yards when he's in tight man coverage, and the areas where he has missed tackles before this game is when the wide receiver has a head of steam and open field - that's something where every cornerback and even safeties and linebackers struggle with and where the receiver is going to win that rep ninety-nine-times out of a hundred; there's a reason why the best defenses swarm to the ball and combine stops.

And what's more, he's self-reflective of his mistakes and has proven that he will take criticism; that's why he gained so much good weight this season, and why the Panthers game was a moment of self-reflection for him, where he understood why he got beat so that it will happen less (because there is not a player who has ever lived who has never had a bad game).

You are blatantly ignoring documented facts that can be searched with a single Google search to prove just how dead fucking wrong you are. Either come up with some shit that you've researched - and I mean REALLY FUCKING RESEARCHED WITH DATA THAT ISN'T "he's average or below average at best" which repeating ad nauseum doesn't suddenly make it true, even with a bad game - or shut up and take the fucking loss. At this point, I have no problem calling you out for trolling. Either stop running your mouth full of shit and LISTEN to people who can teach you, or GTFO.

EDIT: And if I sound mean? Tough fucking shit. I just got out of the hospital less than twelve hours ago and have been unable to sleep because of all of the medicine they pumped me with. I have no patience and zero tolerance for those who won't learn and continue to stir the pot, which is what I truly believe you're doing at this point and what others have called you out for.
I pretty much agree with everything you said but this was a tad harsh. I know the other poster says some unreal stuff but let's give him some constructive criticism like others do. He doesn't like Forbes for some reason and will find any excuse to put down his play even when Forbes was playing out of his mind the last few weeks before yesterday's game.

I may have to watch the game again on the All 22 to see how he played on the other plays where the ball did not go his way. But no matter what - those 3 plays were bad.

I don't dislike Forbes, all I'm saying he's an average CB at best. And I stated he wasn't the main reason why the Rams lost yesterday..... It was on Stafford.

And that other dude has probably been deferring to name calling since he was a little kid. Not gonna change that.

I have zero tolerance for trolling behavior on this board. What duane is doing is very much on the borderline of that, if not crossing the line entirely. He's been warned before, and people have had issues with the things he's said, which means the moderators and admins should be well aware as well.

I get that it was a bad loss and that people are looking for blame, but if he can't bring up actual statistics or proof and just throws stuff on the wall until it sticks, I'd love for him do what I do when I'm dealt with harsh criticism, even when it comes to stories that I write that I've worked my ass on: listen and learn from people smarter in that area than we are. That's the ONLY way we learn other than doing things, and if you're doing the wrong things constantly on purpose, what's the point of discussing civilly?

I'll be polite and not "name-call" (also, again, she; guys do not call themselves "authoresses"); when he decides to cut his losses, humble himself, and learn from his mistakes like Forbes has to. If he keeps on repeating "Forbes is below average" without any known statistics backing him up aside from "I'm saying it, so it MUST be true!", I do not have the patience to abide it. Period. I have dealt with too much shit to deal with trolls on a site I love (and have considered a home when my own home got broken) for fifteen years.

He had a boneheaded day. But those passes were on the money, too. And he's a third year guy. I like him. Even if we should probably draft a #1 corner. Pass rush did him no favors either.

Stafford had the bone head day. Forbes, well that's typical play for him, but the offense usually masks some of that.

Stafford won't have a bad game like that until next season..... guaranteed.

Would have been nice to have Akhello as an option yesterday to help out. The pass rush not really doing enough on those 3rds & 4ths to speed up B Young didn't help Forbes either

He played yesterday. Not very well though.

It's difficult to pass rush on a soggy field with a QB that can run.... Rams play a lot of zone D not because they want to, it's because they have to.

At least we know now not to leave Forbes 1-on-1 in big moments.

Good thing this happened this game and not the playoffs.

Forbes had no business undercutting on the second touchdown. There was no need to go for an interception especially since it was 4th down. You just want to knock the ball down and get the ball back in great field position. He's not a cerebral type player yet in his career.

I think you will see a little more help for Forbes in the coming games.

Exactly, stay on the back left shoulder until the ball is thrown, especially when there’s no help. He guessed too early. We had containment and no other option was open.

You continue to insist that Stafford and Forbes had a "bone head day" and Forbes play was "typical". I will agree that they both have played better, but you have to blame the entire defense for most of this loss. They couldn't stop the run, nor could they pressure the QB. That is the reason why they lost yesterday. Stafford's first interception bounced off a guy's helmet and the strip sack was because the D-lineman wasn't blocked and the ball was probably very slippery in the rain. The second pick was a bad throw. But stop blaming 2 guys for the loss... it was not entirely on those 2 guys.

Forbes was bad this game but I think the unsaid piece was how much we missed Lake in this game, both in being able to disguise in coverage and RUN SUPPORT.
I think there's a very wide consensus how much the Rams would miss Lake....

Like stated earlier get Forbes some additional help and don't leave him 1on1 with anyone on 3rd and 4th downs.

I did not state Forbes had a bone head day.... It was just one of his below average days.

Stafford had the bone head day and he was the reason why the Rams lost.

The Panther QB is a tough guy to rush on as he is a very good runner so I'm sure the LB's were being a little careful. Plus if you watch the Rams DE's they were over pursuing a bit and the wet field was causing them to not react back quick enough.

The Rams aren't an overly physical defense, especially when losing a player like Lake. Also Landman took a vacation day yesterday.
