Edge is needed so I wouldn't be surprised if the Rams ad a veteran edge rusher next week sometime. Right now Young and Thomas look the most explosive off the edge. Adding a veteran proven rusher could make a big difference as far as getting the Defense off the field.

Melvin Ingram, if he is still available

I have a feeling what we see is what we get. If we start the season 1-4 or worse heaven forbid, I can see these young guys getting more playing time to get them up to speed for next year. And probably be sellers in October.

Of course if we steal a win from one of the 4 playoff teams and beat the Colts we'd be 2-3. With an easier part of the schedule coming up. So maybe they think they have a shot if it ends up like that. At that point they might be looking for a more experienced edge rusher.

I'm hoping "the AD factor" breaks a couple of these young edge guys loose. And can only imagine AD disrupting with Tomlinson and Durant covering. Our secondary may be really good and if we had an edge rush to go with that, wow lookout. One can only hope while our starters are out there.

Think we'll only add an edge if its a low cost vet, but I get the feeling we won't. Seems like they want the young guys to get more reps.

I think they like Lord Byron a LOT and will want him to get reps as much as possible. I don’t think we add an edge unless they all are struggling/injured and we are still somehow winning

There are others, Robert Quinn, ...and Carlos Dunlap.
Amazingly these two played several years together on the same high school team.
Fort Dorchester Patriots, Charleston SC.
Byron Maxwell was also on that same team.

Robert Quinn is 2 years removed from his 2nd best season sack wise. Is he not worth at least considering?
Aside from his recent dumbfuck maneuver of the DUI Quinn was one of the first Fisher vets out the door after McVay showed up. I of course have no proof there's a prob between them but I recall a vid of McVay walking into the room the first time at Rams Park after the hire and Quinn had this sort of mocking smile on his face for the young head coach. I noted that and he was gone shortly thereafter if memory serves. So I think he's a straight "no" for the Rams.

Quinn played a season under McVay. I think he was traded because his level of play was so-so and his cap hit was over $10mil.

Nope, he dumped William Hayes. I don't think McVay believes in mermaids.

I believe Quinn was upset when he left the Rams.. he didn't like the way he was used in Wade's D.
I don't know if they're interested.. the DUI thing is an issue, to me, when you're developing young players.
As far as role goes... I think the multiple fronts the Rams are running would make it easy to work him in.

The organization really needs both Young and Turner to hit and become above average NFL starters. The dearth of players along the DL/OLB is so bad in this team outside of AD. Especially the youth.

Hopefully a couple of the others will develop over there next 1-2 years.

We should be scouring the waiver wire for potential quality young guys cut that play along the front 7 D to bring in.
