Don’t be fooled. If this team bounces back to what they looked like the first two weeks, and has a solid winning record headed into the trade deadline, they will trade for a guy like Brian Burns… they will. Why? Track Record. With the emergence of the young defense (which still has some work to do), and the consistency of the OLine aside from “Can’t block” (Zach Thomas)…. Snead will not hesitate to pull the trigger, yet again.

I’m not saying this WILL HAPPEN. But, I believe this team is the one we saw in the first two weeks and that this past Loss will be an outlier. Everyone was to blame this week.

I don’t think we are one player away to make a substantial move for a Brian Burns, but I’m not so sure they can’t be by the end of the season either. This coaching staff has been very impressive with the development of the young boys (D especially), and as long as McVay is in charge, I will always feel confident that he is gonna put his best foot forward to win. The Cam Akers move is what solidifies McVay as a no-nonsense dude who ain’t playin’ around.

All in all, I still believe this team can be a playoff team; I really do. The culture, the growth of the young guys already, Stafford and Kupp with the emergence of Tutu and Nacua… AD still wrecking fools… it’s all in tact to win a bunch of games. I’m not counting them out, or the idea of a next years 1st rounder being surrendered for a pass rusher.

The trade deadline is 10/31. I could see the Rams being 4-4 at that point, with a potentially somewhat more favorable schedule in the second half of the season.

Would that be enough to make them “buyers”? Maybe.

I’m hoping, though, that they keep their first round pick. Maybe shop a Day 2 pick instead.

At this point in the season I think it's unlikely we'll see many trades until closer to the deadline.
Wouldnt surprise me if the Rams made a trade, wouldnt surprise me if they dont
If Burns keeps up his sack rate, there's no reason for Carolina to trade him unless its a blockbuster deal.

Praying we actually keep and use our first rounder. Cheap young talent is better then very expensive talent every day of the week. Yes, its more of a risk, but football is all about risk.

I'm confused.

More so than usual.

And if he doesn't keep his sack rate... do we really want to trade for him?

We, the fans? Likely not. The Rams? They might. I dont know if their interest last year was true or not. If it was, then I dont see why they wouldnt still be interested, particularly in a scenario where his trade value might have dipped. Alas, Carolina ultimately holds the card of being able to tag him after the season and then look to trade him

Got to remember this is his last year minus franchising him.

I think it was pretty widely reported we offer that years 3rd and the two following years 1sts.

This team looks like they will be drafting middle of the pack to maybe 20ish. So if we move the first rounder we are looking at 45th-50th pick range which virtually eliminates guys who can start quickly at LT.

There is definitely a dip even from that early round 2 range to mid 2nd. Guys who slip out of the first, like our new LG, don't make it to 50.

Way I see it we need a LT or a QB with that first rounder. We either finish this OL this next offseason so Stafford can make a run or we draft a QB but either way that line has to be dependable.

We keep building our house with straw on that line. Burns is too much a luxury for where we are at.

I really wouldn't be shocked if we attempted to get Johnathan Taylor. The loss on Monday night was due to the fact that McVay didn't want to run the ball. Maybe he doesn't trust Williams yet or doesn't want to overuse him since he is pretty small. Taylor could make our offense similar to what we had when Gurley was here.

The feels like the worst year to trade our first. The player coming in will likely not make us a contender to the level of Philly or San Francisco and this draft is filled to the brim with great talent. Personally I hope the Rams commit to what they've been saying all along. Use this season to evaluate the young talent and use free agency to build some more. Then take your first round draft pick and knock it out of the park.

At this point seriously doubt we trade for anybody with a first especially knowing how Snead has the ability to milk picks trading down and grabbing good compensation.

Also another reason for the doubt is the crazy ass draft talent this coming draft, especially in our areas of need.

I still say a trade in the next month would be more about 2024 than 2023.

Rams have a track record of preferring a "proven commodity" over a premium draft pick. (Trades for Ramsey, Stafford, Miller, for example).

Rams might think a veteran "proven commodity" would have a surer chance for immediate impact in 2024 as opposed to a premium 1st round rookie.

So yeah, I think it's entirely possible the Rams trade their 1st round pick. I just think it would be more about making that "last run" with AD, MS, and CK in 2024.

Could the Rams make a run in 2023? Yeah, maybe, if everything goes just right, and with amazing luck on the injury front. But the Rams have a great chance to be LOADED in 2024.

Patience, grasshopper
