Yeah and I have to admit I don't expect him to do much for at least half the season if that. Rams have guys positioned to take snaps 4 deep in that WR unit and Tutu is behind so he's in for a long rookie season.

If he's really smart he'll bust his ass to be a returner. That gets him on the gameday roster. From there McVay would have a hard time not putting him in there for jet sweeps lol, but he's gotta be able to offer something to get that gameday nod.

I'm sure fans will freak out, but Atwell is definitely a pick for the future. Learn from DJax for a year, try to gain a few lbs, and then actually contribute next year

When they put those depth charts together, they put the rookies in last place, so they can tell them they need to work for a roster spot. It's only obvious.

What you talking about, man?

Austin Pettis and Greg Salas would force Woods and Kupp to RAISE THEIR GAME! And Godd@mn… Coasting like vets… those days would be over!
Donnie Avery and Kenon Burton too....:laugh2:

Without a doubt. And the one-year improvement of the unit is off the charts too.

Jefferson has really responded to the competition DJax provided. And it's not like he wasn't playing well for us last year too. That Green Bay game he looked like a vet.

Can you imagine if Tutu gets this offense down and can contribute? Boy there's gonna be a lot of mismatches out there vs other teams' CB3s and 4s.

Teams will simply be unable to match up with us. We will always be able to put a combination of WRs on the field to a point where, at minimum, our 3rd guy will always be better than their 3rd DB in at least one aspect of the game.

Stafford must be pissing himself with joy when he looks at the WR room. Granted, none of them are Megatron, but collectively I have no doubt this is the best unit he's ever had.

And we haven't even discussed TE's and what happens if Harris makes an early splash ...

WR's can only go as far as the Oline.

So let's hope the Allen evaluation is correct.

I'll be the first to admit I didn't think he could make the jump from zero to hero.

Speaking of jet sweeps, they drilled that today without a defense. TuTu was the fastest.

Atwell from the get-go wasn’t expected to get a ton of balls this year. There are a lot of pieces to this offense…

But, I expect him to be used situationally this year. Specific plays. Maybe even more snaps than people think.

His speed and quickness doesn’t need a whole lot of marinating.

he's the man for the jet sweeps. the bonus is he can catch the ball if it is thrown his way. something missing when tavon was jet sweeping.

The Atwell pick is already paying dividends—DJ knows why Atwell was drafted but DJ is saying, “hold on. I ain’t done yet!”

If he doesn't get as many targets as Van Jefferson got in 2020 and ends up injured or has a redshirt rookie season, there will be a lot of his critics pounding the drums.
Yea he is behind, but he has time. The only way it becomes a problem is if
Jackson gets injured and TuTu is not ready.
In the mean time he would be a deadly option on the jets sweeps and screens.

I personally don't want to see him returning punts. I would be scared for his safety.

I will be the first to admit I was not a fan of the pick at the time, but a season
where he only see's the ball sporadically is not the worst scenario in my mind.

It would give him a chance to better prepare his body and be ready to take over for Jackson next year.
From the early looks at this draft Snead has done a hell of a job. imo
So the critics can shove it.

Lots of change to still take place over the next month but a good peak into the initial camp winners.
It has more to do with seniority than it does anything.

And why pressure the rookies this early in camp.

I was wondering this afternoon how much PT Atwell will get. It is a great and crowded WR group. I was hoping he could get some PT here and there just in case DJ gets hurt. I think it would be a smart move to get his feet wet and see his speed. McVay needs to be smart about resting the vets late when games are out of reach.

Drums ready, because the pick sucked, and until we see anything positive, it shall remain a sucky pick.

The only good thing about the pick is that he isnt a first rounder, so we wont need to worry bout any diva entitlement bullshit.

Well one thing the line won't see too much of is pre-snap A gap threats. If you're gonna try that with Stafford back there having the receiver options he's got you're taking a big risk.

So we'll see but IMO there won't be a lot of stacked LOS vs our line this year. In fact I think our backs will run into light boxes all season long.

@1maGoh thats the beauty of the fan sites. Many different perspectives.

However, if you were to say the pick was awesome, Id not tag a “chill” to your opinion just because I didnt agree.

Know what I mean?

Centering in on just one unit, this is how I see it@ this time before the first preseason game:

OL

LT-Whitworth/ Noteboom/ Jackson/ Pircher
LG-Edwards/ Brewer
OC-Allen/ Shelton/ Kolone/ Meredith
RG-Corbett/ Evans
RT-Havenstien/ Anchrum/ Pope

Won an OL position on Master Roster
Fighting for the final 1 or 2 OL positions
Practice Squad members
Preseason Body
