For the last time......Goff's issues:

Slow to process information quickly enough in the pocket.
Struggles under pressure
Throws inaccurately at times.
Doesn't make accurate reads.
Turns ball over.

He's a tweener/middle of the roader, always has been, his numbers bear that out.
Agree with this completely. He just didn't see enough pre snap for me, and then post snap he seemed to be locked into what he thought he had seen before; meant he was easy to fool and didnt react quickly enough to figure out the coverage concept was something else than what it first appeared. Kept hoping he would get it but by this year it was clear the amount of times they had to burn a timeout or get a delay of game penalty because of it.

It is difficult to reconcile all the numbers some have shared that show how good he appeared to be and then traded away.

The list above with are things I recognize. Also a slow release and an inability to throw a ball for the receiver to go get.

Maybe all those great numbers were accomplished in spite of Goff? That is all I can think of.

One thing is for certain. When we needed a winning drive, I wasn't ever confident with Goff driving the ball. Not like a Rodgers, Wilson, Brees, Brady, and too many others.

I trust the leadership with the move. This one will have some stink on it for long time.

You're in for a surprise when you see Stafford in this offense. It's impossible for me to imagine this unit not being far better with this guy behind center.

Which is amazing to contemplate because we saw how good this offense was when Goff was on... When Stafford switches it on... OOF.

That said, I'm tempering my enthusiasm. Our D finished #1 overall, but it took a bit before the D really came together in a new system.

We don't have a new system on O, but we do have a new QB and while I hope he gets that timing down early, I have a feeling that it will take some time before the offense really starts clicking.

There were definitely reasons to move on from Goff, but he was fine in this regard. During his peak year (2018) he had 5 game winning/come-back drives, the most critical of which was the NFC Title game at the Saints. Even with his downturn in 2019 he had 2 - and really should’ve had 3 but usually reliable Greg the Leg missed a FG to win the game against Seattle.

To put that in perspective, Aaron Rodgers has had at most 3 game winning drives a season.

Stafford looks great in this area - 2016 he had 8!

EDIT: the links all go to Terry Bradshaw’s GW drives, so I’ll just post screenshots instead.

Yeah that 2018 team had a lot more talent. Gurley alone just changed a defense not to mention Cooks that year. But if they solve OL and add speed yes I could see an explosion like that.

I think Cam Akers really blossoms in his 2nd year.

I really like the 1-2 punch of Akers and Hendo. Akers ankle-breaks and then Hendo comes in a BOOM, burst. Then guys get to over-pursue a little bit and Akers cuts back and burns them.
