For whatever reason he prefers the offense run that way and it doesn't call for a FB everything we've seen from him from day 1 is the antithesis of a FB oriented run game. He may change it may be this year but there is absolutely nothing in what McVay has said and done since taking over the Rams should lead people to think he wants a FB.

HB, TE or FB, ... what most fans want imo is a hybrid player that can play all these positions while effectively blocking along the way.

And a hybrid like that is something McVay has yet to use his entire time here. That's my point. If he drafts a RB it's somebody with speed can make all the runs and can block. This hybrid FB/TE is a fantasy of some fans that McVay has shown absolutely no desire to use. That's a Shanahan player not a McVay player.

"[H]as yet to use" and "shown absolutely no desire to use" are probably too overbroad for my taste

Oh excellent in 5 years 4 plays all in one game that show a TE in the backfield that totally means a FB will be drafted in the 3rd round likely even this year.

I will be honest. I'm surprised we haven't heard a whisper out of the Rams camp.
 
actually, for whatever reason, this feels like every other year, EXCEPT LAST YEAR, when the news of stafford couldn't be stifled...

like new rookie draft pick contracts.. they all sign the same day...

it's excruciating for us as fans, but it's how the rams do business... and i do like the way they take care of business...

My record for accurate Rams' predictions now stands at 19.365%

My gut says we get some Rams news yet tonight. It might be the beer, but my beer belly has a feeling of it.

So reviewing the positional lists at this point a few of them stand out in relation to the rest...

1. Safety. Honey Badger is still out there I believe. Boy would that dude help us.

2. TE. Gronk is still available last I checked. He was #2 I believe in production for inline TEs last season. Not the threat he was in the passing game but still a plus contested catch guy and a very good blocker.

3. CB. Gilmore is still available. Would be an insane addition to this team.

Edge I really don't like what's left. Prefer they draft some young legs and roll them out in rotation.

Honey Badger was a big problem for KC from what I've heard. Always our of position and free lancing. But I'd take a chance on him.
