Love Snead & McVay, afterall they brought us a ring and 5 exciting yrs of football and I hope they stay another 10 yrs.
However, when you have the last 5 yrs of no 1st rd picks you have to hit on an above avg percentage of your 2nd and 3rd round picks. And I mean you need to hit on a few pro bowl type guys or border line pro bowler types.
So when your 2 & 3rd rounds, over the last 4 yrs, consisted of...
Noteboom, Evans, Henderson, Rapp, Akers, Jefferson, Burgess, Lewis, Jones, and Bruss.
...then you have a problem because only one is an above avg contributor this season and that's Jones, and he plays a position that is not as high impact as many other positions.
Now Bruss is injured and could be a big factor in the future. Jefferson has contributed in the past, but this yr he has not done a thing due to injury. However, the rest of this group has been spotty at best during their tenure here and that is hurting them big time now.
Granted they have done well in the late rounds finding good solid role players, but they have no young special talents on this team right now and it is so obvious watching other teams in this league.
If Lewis was a 10 sack guy and Jefferson was a Robert Woods clone or Akers was an exciting young runner and Evans was a very good young OG and if Rapp or Burgess was a playmaking S then maybe we would be in much better shape this yr.
Of course that's not the case and they have huge draft's ahead of them these next 2 yrs...not just next yr. They need a few back to back homerun drafts to avoid a slide in this franchise.
