Compensatory pick is not a given; and it would be a 2026 draft choice.
Agree, they will have at least $30M to add players... So they will likley offset his loss with an addition.

Honestly, I think we trade him for a second-round pick. My guess is Washington or Carolina.

True true my bad .. but unless he gets injured though this year he should at least have a similar type season no? So i still wouldn't trade him for anything less than a 3rd when he will probably 90% net that comp pick. Is he ranked top 8 mlb? I believe he is not sure but I believe he definitely gets that pick unless awful year which is possible too

I have to get a bit of a chuckle from this thread... a few people coming hard after Jones.

But in the end, it looks like the team was the one looking for a trade as much as anything else.

Never get a pick that high for a LB that wants to get paid.

QB's, WR's, LTs, CB's, and pass rushers can fetch high picks. ILB's do not. Especially a LB that wants a new contract. The Eagles only got a conditional 3rd, in 26', for a 15 sack a year Edge because he also wanted a new deal.

If they trade him, at best it will be a 5th, maybe a 4th if we give back a 6th or 7th.

I would take a 4th & a 7th, give back a 6th.

This sounds much better than what was I guess speculated.

This sounds much better to me and Sean must have also seen how this wasn't playing well in the media.

Good on Sean to clear this up.
It makes it worse like they just don’t want him

Jones could have a strong 2024 season and get a big contract from another team in 2025 Free Agency, and the Rams Still might Not get 2026 a compensatory pick in return.

Comp picks are based on a formula that considers a team's net losses vs. its net gains in Free Agency.

You'd get that for a middle linebacker who is one of the top inside linebackers in the league at the age of twenty-four. Reddick had just reached the age of thirty.

Yes, he needs a new contract, but both Washington and Carolina have cap space, a real need at inside linebacker, and a fairly new owner who wants to make a splash.

Huge amount of overreaction here.
All will be forgotten when EJ leads the team in tackles in Rams win over Kittens opening season game.
Dude is a gamer, he's gonna ball out

Well, the name of the thread was leading to think the Rams wanted to trade EJ.

One may want to care more for the illiterate.

I have more faith in Snead than that.
I don't think it's about faith. It's about being realistic.

He's an ILB, which is not a high-priority position throughout the NFL.
He has a chronic knee issue.
He wants a new contract.
He's not an elite player.
And frankly, the timing is bad. The Rams don't have leverage here.

I see a 5th as being the best they can do, but wouldn't be surprised by a 6th.
