Let's not forget Pat Thomas, Rod Perry, Gary Green (I remember Green picking off Montana in a late season win), Michael Stewart, James Washington, Anthony Newman. I would like to believe Pat Thomas and Rod Perry took a young Leroy Irvin under their wing and that helped him. Dude had 35 career interceptions (and 4 in the postseason!!). The only year he didn't pick off a pass was the strike shortened 1982 season. At least he had one of his 4 career PR TD that season!!! One of my favorite Ram players.

Yeah Perry and Thomas were the mentors for Irvin as their careers began to sunset with the Rams in the early 80's.
Great memories of a pretty solid stretch for the Rams secondary.

i got a pic with him when i went to the ram/cowboy training camp square off in oxnard...
he was hanging out in the beer tent...
smiling and having a great time...
the scrimmage was was the one where the two teams got in a fight....
sux i was on the wrong side of the field watching our defense against their offense when the fight took place...
sigh... but really sad news

We really need to lobby the Rams Org to establish a Rams Ring of Honor.
Let some these guys get some extra love from fans, the organization and recognition for their contributions to the Rams....it would be nice to see some of these classic Rams be memorialized in the Ring at So-Fi while they are still alive.

Yeah, I was at my friend's apartment in Augusta, GA. Leroy has been quoted as saying the last lengthy return he made in the game could have been a 3rd TD but he had been playing corner all game and was a bit wore out.

Numbers not retired......as far as I know, and maybe Im wrong, the Rams don't have any sort of honorary thing for their players at the stadium.
#47 from Kansas Leroy Irvin was a CB that never shied away from playing against the run either. Great punt returner, who the Rams could sure use now. RIP LeRoy Irvin Jr., you truly were special in every way, on and off the field.
One of my favorite players of that time period. Sad that he had to go so soon. RIP Mr Irvin.
