Younger than Whitworth and well rested. We gave up a 2nd for Watkins to add to an already strong WR corp. I think this is a very good move for them.
Whitworth is an iron man with zero injury history. He’s missed 8 games in 12 seasons. Duane Brown has had trouble staying healthy and hasn’t been practicing. Also, Sammy Watkins is a top 10 receiver talent wise. I would have traded a 1st for him. He’s a big reason why we are one of the best offenses in the league.

.

the question is - will he be a happy camper if they don't upgrade his contract? he didn't sit out 7 games and 7 game cheques because he was happy with his contract.

.

I think its a good move by them. I hate it. They actually did something to help the o-line, which was there biggest weakness, and they did it by adding a above average LT which they needed. Only strengthens a strong team.

You want to be the best? you got to beat the best. Pure and simple.
Doesn't help their interior OL much though. Even when they had Okung at his best, they still couldn't get it together up front. An OL is only as good as it's weakest link, and that chain's looking rusty right now.

They're extremely lucky to have the only QB in the league who can escape the pocket and still make plays as consistently as Wussell can but it's an offense you can gameplan around now that they don't have a running game. Contain, spy, and don't blitz because you don't have to.

And with the exception of the Rams, the Hag's haven't beat anyone with a winning record yet this season! ( they have wins over Indy-the 49ers-the Giants and Houston!)

CB Lane, 5th rounder in 18 and a second rounder in 19.

Strikes me as an overpay

I will disagree.... The last 5 years its been tougher to draft LT's. The Spread Offense in college is killing the once safe position to take in the draft. Just go back and look. Sadly this was a great move by the Sh!thawks. Carroll is like Fisher they can find CB's w/ ease.

Watkins also had an injury history in the NFL. All Im saying is I dont think this is a bad move for them.

Until we beat them, they are better. They have same record and own tie breaker. They are ahead of us right now. I think we are better, but season still young.

isnt his current contract up after next year?
No he's signed for one more year with no guaranteed money at just under $10 million. He was holding out for an extension and to get some guaranteed money.

Isnt his contract ending after next year and him being signed for one more year the same thing? I feel I am missing something easy to see lol

That's what happens when I read something with the first beer after work :)

Glad they picked him up. I don't want any excuses why we won if we do indeed win the next meeting. If we want to prove we are really who we believe we are and we believe we have finally arrived, we should welcome the competition upgrading. Good teams beat good teams. And we have beaten this team when we were a terrible team. No reason why we shouldnt still give them an L next meeting.

For an above average LT you have to pull the trigger considering their offensive line troubles. AT 32 he could have 3.5 good years remaining. He has to make up those 7 checks he lost plus fines. Look for a three year extension next year. The Hags have to find the money. No Jimmy Graham saves 10 Mil IIRC. They trade down so much they can get some of draft capital back. A little risk with age and a injury history but, they are in the hunt in the NFC so it's worth the risk.

It’s a good move by them. Their window is coming to a close soon and moving some picks to upgrade now is in their best interest.

But it’s ok, we are the better younger team. Sherman is getting consistently beat and is about half of what he was.
