Here's an article from May of 2023.

Alaric Jackson says he prefers LT but he's willing to play G if necessary.

Quote from article:

“I love playing left side, honestly,” Jackson said, via The Athletic. “Tackle is my thing, for the most part. I understand that they paid Joe, so I get that whole part. But whatever I can do for the team, I’ll do for the team.”

So that was last season.

—So much has changed.Jourdan said it was Noteboom who was going to play guard.I totally disagreed Which is fine now.

My point though was always Alaric was the better RG.I hear some posters ??? Say move Steve Avila to RG ??? That’s if Dotson leaves ???

Who knows now ??? There’s a lot that goes into it !!!! I mean we have all seen what we’ve seen.

My case was always that Anchrum STINKS(no offense).Got in trouble about been Sko as a WR last year.My point was special teams was his ticket. He proved me right & wrong. If Pucka wasn’t Pucka The Rams would have been in trouble.Plus D. Robinson was solid.Add Johnson who I LOVE!! He imo is the better wr,but been Sko is such a solid blocker & continues to work hard as a WR.He was a TEAM CAPTAIN!!

Anchrum on the other hand ?? I’ll just leave it at that.He played one play in 2022 & if Alaric Jackson(Noteboom) both stay healthy The Rams imo go to the PLAYOFFS!! There’s a lot of other IF’s & what happened in 2022.There was a lot of similarities, but BOBBY EVANS was not the answer at LG !!! Either.

This year 2023 almost became the same thing.Anchrum was counted on when needed.Noteboom NEVER got healthy, until late.

Alaric Jackson in training camp sort of became 1 !! They were The LEFT SIDE of the Offensive line. My POINT still being Alaric Jackson is the better RG !!! He & Avila are the better LEFT SIDE!! Noteboom did well against The Giants & is an Excellent backup LT !!!

Once again things have changed in a way.Noteboom became a GOOD ROTATION GUY.He is HUMBLE & a TEAM (WE) Player !!
( ??? Injury Oldbutnotdead?). He hurt himself & played through an injury for The Rams to get to the playoffs.I don’t or haven’t heard about what that injury is & what his future is because of INJURY?? Anyone ???

Still when Alaric Jackson didn’t play the 2nd HALF of CINNCY !!
My question IS & will ALWAYS BE !!! WTF was Zach Thomas playing LEFT TACKLE??

I CALL BS as well on the 2023 season!! I can go on. Will put this & continue on my own 2023 Ramble.

Short answers was that last season (2023) not to be a Richard without explanation.

IMO Alaric Jackson & Steve Avila have a GREAT WORKING RELATIONSHIP!! It should continue at least until 2024.Joesph Noteboom is an Excellent backup LT & now swing player.

POINT though is if Mcvay or Wendell want to play ZACH THOMAS at LT or BOBBY EVANS at LG The Rams & Matthew Stafford (Cooper Kupp ) they might as well call it a season.

Add that having your BEST 5 together doesn’t always work.
Zach Thomas is a GUARD at Best ?? IMO Bobby Evans was a backup RT. His long arms is what protected him.Jared Goff could step up and throw. Then you had Corbett & Austin Blythe. That niner game still gets me.Blythe picked up the blitzing LBer & Goff had a easy TD to his guy in Detroit. He checked down instead & a Safety(LBer) took it to the house.

Oh well ?? Alaric Jackson was The Rams Best RG imo until Dotson was traded from Pitt.
He still was,but that LEFT SIDE is important. Still Noteboom does a excellent job protecting the blindside.

No one is saying different and that's not really relevant, is it?

My character question is whether the player is going to be the kind of guy to continue earning it. A guy who sets the example.

Aaron Donald held out.. do we question his character in any way, shape or form? No. That's the character I'm talking about.

Well at what point do you let a player holdout ?? Your talking FIRST ROUND PICKS as well if your going down that road.

When was The LAST TIME THE RAMS have had one of those ??

Funny Kevin Demoff before the 2023 Draft said he was more excited about The Rams in 2023 than in 2022.

It’s funny (always has been) his (far wishing) fruition.

Yeah - I was & will ALWAYS be PISSED off though. You can always check my track record. I drink the Kool-Aide(Maybe draft him lol).

Todd Gurley & Jared Goff got PAID !! Aaron Donald because of who & what position he played made it an easy decision to hold Aaron Donald out. Brockers needed up leaving like Saffold, but both brought back & finished there 2nd contracts.

IMO that’s what happened to Jared Goff & Sean Mcvay.Goff got the easy money & then started shacking up with his Girlfriend, not putting The RAMS FIRST!!!

It’s possible we are over estimating his market value. Is he perceived as an upper echelon guard after one good season?

We gave up a 2024 fourth rounder for him (plus ‘25 fifth), he played well… no doubt the Rams will want him back at the right price after that trade investment.

Yeah & Gurley ?? Well they shouldn’t have resigned him without him playing out his 5th season. That is what the Franchise Tag is for.
—Go look at when Aaron Donald held out !!

BTW / what did The Rams pay Tru Johnson in 2017 & AD99 was holding out ? I don’t know ? Exactly either of his 2nd holdout. If memory tells me it was that same year & Mcvays ROOKIE SEASON as a HC ?

Good stats on draft pick.Thought it was only a 5th(4th) rd pick.
He will bring back a 3rd comp pick if The Rams can’t afford him though ?

Number 23 overall.

BTW Memento has The Rams drafting a Guard from Kansas State. Another Cooper (Beebe).

The Rams might want to trade back ? Look at the Draft in 2023 it might be a wise decision. ?

The Rams (Mcvay) was trying to move up in the draft. Could RAM FANS image not having STEVE AVILA ??

STEVE AVIVLA is being overlooked compared to Pucka & Turner. That’s why trading back might be the theme.

The Rams couldn’t move up,the cost was to much.Which IMO is why The Rams might want to trade back & draft a player like Cooper Bebee. Late FIRST ROUND gives you that 5th YEAR!!

& so are The Lions.They & The Ref’s burnt The Rams !!

I guess maybe you should do a Lions Fan or better yet a Jared Goff Fan.

Stafford & The Rams are about Family. Stafford has 4 daughters.Higbee 1 & Havenstien 3 .

I’ll stay away from a very poor & fowl joke. There are a lot of sick people out there though.I’m happy family & dealing with that is a chore itself.

That’s a good question.

Going into last year’s offseason, I have thought that Greg Gaines would have been valued higher, both by the Rams and the open market.

I trust that Les Snead has a better handle on his value than anyone here does.

I think so too ... and really hope so ... also agree about Gaines.

However, Snead did sign-off of Noteboom's contract and 2023 restructure that carries a $20M cap hit in 2024, plus another $10M in Dead-$ (Void year) in 2025, and still another $5M in 2026.

The Rams' cap space right now is between $30-35M; and they will need another $5-$7M for their draft class; and you want them to spend $17-$18M on a guard?

Well we can restructure and cut Noteboom to create more space, but yes.

This offense at full strength was first in the NFL. I want to keep the OL intact and then get a WR and RB to limit the impact if Kupp or Williams miss time again.

We had 7 young defensive contributors that are all going to be better next year just from experience. In addition to Dotson get an edge or CB in FA, fill the other in the draft and were good to go.

I don't follow the above thought.

I don't know that teams restructure and then cut. I'm not sure how that would work.

Re-structuring usually means converting current-year Salary which hits the cap in that current year ...
... into Bonus that is paid currently but spread-out for cap allocation purpose ... however, ...
... if the team then cuts the player, that Bonus hits the cap in the current year. No cap space is created

Plus, Noteboom already has Void Years in 2025 and 2026 when he will hit the Rams' cap for a total of $15M.

Snead definitely strikes out on occasion, but he has a pretty good batting average!

Based on how they valued Corbin and Noteboom, I am not so sure that is true. Regardless, I would pay Doctson.

If the staff is confident Avila can play RG, perhaps they shift him there, and draft or sign a LG if Docton is not brought back. I do not think it is necessarily a RG vacancy we will be searching for. But my preference is to sign Doctson. We have cap space. Use it. The o-line is the enginge of the offense and we need to keep Stafford clean to get as many years out of him as possible. I don't mind paying, perhaps even over-paying somewhat, for young o-line talent that has a proven track record availability and that graded out not just very well, but at the top of the league in his position group over almost an entire season. It is a somewhat small sample size, but not so small I lack confidence Doctson can keep on being a very good starter. Notebroom, that was another story. He truly only ever looked good in spot duty, filling in the rare times Whitworth got injured. He looked bad whenever he was starting in years prior.

I think @FrantikRam was making 2 separate points that will create room.
1) that we can do restructure (of unnamed player(s))
2) Cut Boom

I hope they can re-sign him.

But if they don't is there another Dotson or Corbett type situation on another team of which Snead might be able to take advantage?
