This is why I've been saying that they may have to cut Havenstein and Noteboom if they want to pay Dotson. Cutting Havenstein and Noteboom as post June 1 transactions would give them about $21M in cap space.

Cutting them with a post June 1 does NOT give them the cap space UNTIL June 1.

Also false, he is not signed to a contract he is signed to a futures deal which basically gives him an invite to TC as 1 of 90. Unless thru draft/fa they don’t need him and they’ll rescind.
If they had any serious interest, they’d sign him to a non guaranteed contract at league minimum. Which they didn’t

When the dust settles, I sure as hell hope that at least, Shelton or Dotson are still in horns. Hate to lose either but this line's continuity won't suffer as much replacing just one starter. Good thing is, in my eyes, this is a good draft for OL. so either could be replaced with upside players. But, do you want to put Stafford behind two rookies in the middle? And do you want to use all your early draft capital on the OL? I don't won't to do either!

Yeah, that's probably the next concrete news we get to our direction. Sucks that Boom is quite the asset when he gets to play but can't stop getting dinged up. But the good thing is when he gets dinged up, he usually doesn't stay out very long. Can we get him some kind of rubber coated chainmail to wear?

The thing is how the market would view him if he was a free agent.
If a team sees him as a starting OT, he would get a deal like what he has/had with the Rams.
However if he is only viewed as a backup/swing he’s looking at half of that.

I know this has probably already been discussed, but what is the cap ramifications if you could trade Boom? Any chance of getting somebody with a lot of cap to eat a little on Boom?

This kind of thinking lends itself to a ton of flexibility for the Rams and potentially a better Oline in the future. Drafting one of the top tackles after losing Dotson is a good consolation prize... which may turn into 1st prize at the state fair after a year or two.

FWIW, we need to draft a tackle this year no matter what with Havenstein's contract nearing it's end, Jackson probably needing to be paid in a year and losing our top swing tackle.

I don't think people realize how high tackle probably is on the Rams needs list.

I hope they draft both LT and C. And figure a way to reduce JNs cap hit. If we are going to have either a rookie center and/or LT, it would be nice to have experienced depth. The injury concerns will always be there even if he went 3 yrs without one. (Oddly enough when I typed that last sentence it said "hrs", not "yrs" ). But innuries could hit anyone.

Is Shelton going to get blown away with an outside offer? Maybe. Maybe not. We'll know going into the draft about our 3 OL FAs. Depending on what happens, maybe best case scenario is draft the LT (though that C looks impressive). Trade up?

I'd encourage you to read Thinking In Bets which Snead has incorporated into the Rams scouting and front office decision making process to get a sense of whether what I'm saying provides accuracy or not and the inherent value at play.

It's a safe bet to assume that Snead has used the same logic (though the data he has is greater than anything I have) to put value to Bruss's future contributions. I'd call it 70/30.

(Though, I imagine his percentages could be different than mine.)

Would make sense too right? Being that McVay is talking continuity and all, it would mean that despite his OC a UFA, his RT a RFA and his RG a UFA that he’d obviously cut his LT

I think they think of interior offensive line what most of us think about running backs. Sign them if the value is there. This could be the third good guard they've met walk under Mcvay which says they don't overly value it to me.
