Could be an interesting pickup than, I guess.Hunt's around the 6'5", 325/330 lbs. range. I'd say he's plenty physical.

I totally disagree with this assessment of Dotson's value as an UFA.I'm already on record the Rams will offer Dotson $5-$7M/yr on a 4 year deal with the 4th likely to be a void year...
That said, the market value for Dotson could be as high as $10/year.
Oldbutnotdead dead is RARELY EVER RIGHT!!! $4 million LMFAO !I totally disagree with this assessment of Dotson's value as an UFA.
I'll go "on record" that some team will offer Dotson a 4 year deal worth at least $76M, an average of at least $19M per year.
The popularity of the NFL is sky-high, and the recent TV contracts prove it. Current salary cap of approx $225M could go to $255M in 2024, and north of $280M in 2025.
Dotson was evaluated by PFF as the second-highest graded G in the NFL this year. Two G's in the NFL (Chris Lindstrom and Quentin Nelson) currently make just over $20M per year.
Some team is gonna back up the Brinks truck for Dotson. I'm not saying I personally believe Dotson is worth it-- I just think he is going to exploit his leverage as a free agent.
I'd love it if the Rams could get him for a "team-friendly" deal, but given the size of the salary cap and Dotson's excellent year, I think he's gonna get PAID.
I'm still bullish on the Rams in 2024, but they may not be able to afford to keep Dotson.

A player’s mentality is just as important as their size. We can all name big guys who were too soft…Hunt's around the 6'5", 325/330 lbs. range. I'd say he's plenty physical.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Tennessee be the team to back up the Brinks Truck. They've got a lot of money to spend and their offensive line is not very good.I totally disagree with this assessment of Dotson's value as an UFA.

Tricky question because we dont know how active they will be in signing UFA themselves. On face value you'd think he'd bring back a 3rd rounder under the assumption he signs such a monster deal the Rams cant competeMy question is what do The Rams get as a COMP PICK.
No. He's an unrestricted free agent. They could put a transition tag on him, would cost less than franchise tag (still 19+ mill) and then have the option to match a contract offer. If they dont match they get no compensationCouldn’t The Rams tender him ? Tender(lol). A week to Match his offer.
Yes and they will end up getting one of the top LT's in the draft. Perfect opportunity to flip their oline in one season.Wouldn't be surprised to see Tennessee be the team to back up the Brinks Truck. They've got a lot of money to spend and their offensive line is not very good.
They have a metric shit ton of cap space tbh.Wouldn't be surprised to see Tennessee be the team to back up the Brinks Truck. They've got a lot of money to spend and their offensive line is not very good.
Many of us aren't talking about what the Rams would offer him, but what some OTHER TEAM (with plenty of cap space) might offer him.(Dotson) would be smarter to take less per year but all guaranteed over a shorter contract something like 3 years at $5M/yr.
This tells me $15m/yr would be more than fair. But it’s all about the guaranteed $$$.Many of us aren't talking about what the Rams would offer him, but what some OTHER TEAM (with plenty of cap space) might offer him.
IMO, no way Dotson's agent would even consider a 3 year 5M/year contract, even if it were all guaranteed.
We'll revisit this thread in late March, and see how much Dotson signs for once we've reached the "silly season" of free agency.

you just love making up BS and you wonder why people keep laughing about what you post.Kroenke isn't going to sign off on a contract that some on here are advocating. He's already said that cap busting contracts aren't in the budget now.
If you actually read what people respond to you with, you might actually learn something. He would be smarter to take less per year but all guaranteed over a shorter contract something like 3 years at $5M/yr. Don't laugh that would make him the 12th highest paid RG.
Agree with a lot of these thoughts but I don't know that the Rams will get a comp pick for Dotson.I think they have other options at RG if the price gets too high for Dotson. I am in the camp of allocating top OL money into tackles especially Left tackles. I think a better option than paying/overpaying for Dotson, is to take that money (15-20 mil) and to sign Tyron Smith at LT. If they sign Smith they still tender Jackson and move him to right guard while also keeping Noteboom. As far as cap space is concerned Notboom essnetilly cost 5 mil in cap hit to keep him (15 mil dead cap to cut him) for a backup that is starter capable. He provides excellent depth as he can play 4 postions on the line in case of injury. (Smith could be the next Whitworth). Also if they let Dotson walk the Rams will get 3rd or 4th round comp pick as well. This all hinges on if Dallas can resign Smith or is willing to resign him.
Interestingly, hasn't Baker's success in the playoffs made it so he might be a 4th or 5th rounder comp as opposed to something lower? I thought I read that somewhere.Agree with a lot of these thoughts but I don't know that the Rams will get a comp pick for Dotson.
Compensatory picks are based on a formula that considers the net additions and subtractions via free agency.
The Rams have gotten a ton of comp picks in recent years because they have signed so few players. For example, in 2023, the Rams did not sign a single free agent from another club until after the Draft but lost a bunch. As such, they figure to get 3 or 4 comp picks but all will likely be late rounders because the players lost generally did not sign big contracts.
The up-coming off-season and March/April Free Agency figures to be different, with the Rams likely to sign a few players. Their net additions may exceed their losses (number of players and the contract size and terms are factored in). When all is said-and-done, the Rams my not get any 2025 compensatory picks based on 2024 Free Agency.
