Don’t look now, but I’m sensing a ‘new’ Sean McVay this offseason…

I hope for McVay to grow into wanting a more physical team every season. But it never really seems to happen. So I am hopeful but if he doesn't change at all I'm fine with it. Winning that Super Bowl with no run game pretty much ended all that for me. Not sure he'll ever grow into that type of coach but boy would it be nice.

Because he is unstoppable when he's got a ground game threat.

I hate “hot takes”… but the fact that there’s been so much said and reported … Sean even acknowledged contemplating leaving…. Jourdan reported on him giving up play calling during part of the season…. And reports, again, not disputed, that the Rams were considering letting him take a year off… all point to a legitimate possibility that McVay was leaving.
He described players telling him not to leave in exit interviews.

And McVay acknowledged considering the TV options.

My point is… it’s pretty obvious the guy was burnt out and needed to figure things out.

Perhaps. He seemed to make up his mind pretty quickly so, from a practical standpoint, it was something of a non-story, at least for now.

It was definitely over-dramatized, as is the remaining narrative. But then again, what isn't.

The way I see it, McVay knows they are going through a rebuild this year. He knows they may not be very competitive. Yet, he didn't leave. To me that is an indication he wants to see it through. I can't see him leaving if the team is not competitive. If that was the case he never woulda stayed. He woulda left after last season.

As far as the prognosis for this year? They have 3 stars aged 30, 32 and 35. One of those are on defense. The rest of the defense is littered with unproven players. A couple guys who have some experience but are not considered anything like pro bowl material. The rest are day 3 picks from the past couple years. Kinda hard for me to get excited about that.

They do have more experience on offense. After Kupp, Jefferson is in year 4. So is Akers. Tutu year 3. Higbee in year 8. Havenstein even longer. Noteboom, Shelton and Allen are all considered veterans.

If they are gonna be competitive it will be on the offensive side. And the line will have to stay healthy. If they can do that I can see more points from the offense.

They really have to do something about the run game. They were not that good before the injuries hit. Improve that and I can have more optimism. It will make the pass game so much easier for Stafford and his receivers. If not, I hope their is an impact player when they draft high.

I think this years roster is actually better than last years. I expect the Rams to come out smoking baby. O Line looks like a strength to me. We have more upfront on Defense than a lot of people think.

It’s a NON-STORY. Sean Mcvay never left & Jourdan started something wasn’t really there.

The thought was,but when you look at the Big Picture Sean Mcvay just needed 4 days to let a LOSSING SEASON PASS!!!

Like a said if you look at what was going on in his LIFE last Year at this time it would BLOW ANYONE AWAY!!

He had to see how much he LOVED COACHING & his VALUES.

Sean Mcvay’s biggest theory in FOOTBALL is ITS THE GREATEST TEAM SPORT. He wants to put it through the Test!!

In 2023 it’s a NEW TEAM,not a new SEAN MCVAY !! I’d say his coaching staff is better in 2023 than 2022.Main reason was The Rams winning the Superbowl.

It has a AD99 & a Copper Kupp.Add a Higbee & Havenstien who have been team leaders for awhile now.

McVay has that 2017 McVay feel about him. Back to coaching up young, hungry players. No pressure to win a SB this season, and he knows that. I expect the Rams to overachieve and have fun doing it. Hoping for 9 wins, which would be an amazing season with this roster.

It's like McVay broke a bone in his leg last year. With a broken bone he couldn't stand. Now, the bone's healed, he's done what he can do to strengthen the area around it and many times the bone heals stronger afterwards... but you just never know how it's gonna hold up till you get back into game action.

Biggest difference though was we had a healthy TGII… but I’m all for Akers breaking out now he’s health and was starting to come on!
