I love what they're getting from him.

Man.. their pass rush is just not good.

I like Byron Young.. but is he actually good? It's hard for me to tell. I know they need at least one ELITE edge.. but will that be enough to unlock this pass rush?

Raw, IMO. Not that great at using hands. Has speed, hustle but you don't see NFL-level moves yet. Some guys come out of college ready to go, most don't. He's one who needs a lot of work.

On that subject, one guy I liked Will McDonald IV got a ½-sack today and has 2 on season.

Not sure if I'm repeating myself in this thread but I think we're two short on that defensive front: blindside Edge and a 5T.

By blindside edge a guy who has that raw rush threat. Even if he's a liability vs the run just the ability to have one out there on obvious pass downs would be a big upgrade. Miller showed how much that could matter for us, though the guy we got in that playoff stretch was a very high level of efficiency in that role, type of level it's hard to project any player to.

And by 5T a guy who can handle an OT which would balance that threat we get from AD/Turner at 3T. Now I could be wrong but Turner looks like a 3T to me and I figure he & AD are a pairing on run/pass next year if AD doesn't hang 'em up. The real 5T types can be quite hard to find due to the fact they're like that classic power end which means tall and rangy but strong, and when Brown was brought in I was wondering if he could function in that role. Seems like they think he's a nose, which I don't disagree with, and I've been noticing him more of late.

So I'm not expecting them to find that 5T in this draft. Though I admit I look and Trice and wonder about him in that usage. But our greatest need defensively is definitely a good rush threat next to AD.

My feeling is that Michael Hoecht is playing out of position. I'd be curious to see what he looks like as a 5-T. Feels more natural there than as an EDGE. And yes, we definitely need a legit pass rusher.

Kobie Turner gets double-teamed more than Aaron Donald so far -- this is before Sunday so it will be even higher.

Donald wins reps at much higher rate ... but Kobie is a high upgrade over Gaines---who I liked but he does not have what Turner has

Turner -- they make sure to chip ... and he's powerful enough to disrupt the route of the RB
effective taking him out of the play ... to be picked by by vice of 2 LBer ...

a small thing but matters, if they don't he's going to win that 1 on 1, if they do, they
rish taking RB out of concept.

Boy.. those two really need help. Young is a little too undeveloped and Hoecht is just an effort guy.

Much like Corner.. Edge is in dire need of upgrade for this team to get to the next level.

Edge is a huge need.

Bryan Young -- hitting a wall? He hustles but tackles have figured him out, perhaps. Needs a year to work on his hands. And rams need to draft one high (1st or 2nd round) depending and/or sign a star.
