I’m still pissed off at the fact that we lost that game but I’m going to put that aside for now and put myself in the shoes of a Jets fan.

Gase and the Jets had no business winning that game. It took them out of the running for Trevor Lawrence should the Jags lose the rest of their games. You’re missing out on a generational talent all because you won a meaningless game.

This guy won’t be around next season along with almost all of the current staff. It blows my mind that the Jets ownership allowed him to stay without explicitly instructing him to complete the tank job and secure the #1 pick. I would think that holding the #1 pick would be a huge incentive for an incoming coach and they lost that. So do they fire Gase now or is it too late at this point since the damage has been done?

The fact almost everyone is still making fun of the Jets is making this not so bad. Its actually pretty entertaining.

Maybe this was part of the master plan? Some conspiracy theorists say the NFL is WWE so maybe ole Roger called Sean and told him to throw this game, with the promise of a playoff spot next week instead??? He wants to Trevor in the NFL at all costs, and going to the Jets could make him go back to school.

No? Oh well. Jets will still get the Ohio State QB. Whatever.

Honestly I’d be very pissed as a Jets fan because there is a big chance the Jets don’t get Lawerence now with a win and they keep Gase on a very short leash. A lose lose.

Maybe you’re right and Trevor to the United Kingdom Jaguars sounds like a better NFL outcome.

Maybe the analytics told McVay to wing this and concentrate on the Seahawks game.

To say that Jets fans are pissed off would be an understatement. You’re right, it’s super entertaining and is making this loss sting a LITTLE less.

I don’t want to come off as a conspiracy theorist but you might be right. For the number one defense in the league to come out and play that kind of game is just baffling. The offense I can understand but we were just shit all around. Those last play calls were very unlike McVay. Not saying it was rigged but if it ever came out that the NFL was WWE-style sports entertainment wouldn’t be shocking given the fuckery that goes on.

Listening to the post game presser it sure sounded like Goff pretty much said just that. “We knew we would have to go to Seattle and win that game anyway...” which is very true. Doesn’t take away the stench of this game but it puts things into a little perspective.

No one wants the ignominy of an 0-16 season. Players and coaches obviously aren' t on board with throwing games and why should they be.

Absolutely. Unless Jacksonville fucks up next, the Jets cost themselves a chance at a generational talent at the most important position on the field or - failing that - a king's ransom of draft picks for having the right to draft Lawrence.

Well, the NFL made that exact legal argument in court... that the NFL is entertainment as opposed to a legit sport. Why? Because a fan sued due to cheating and the NFL either had to make the argument that a ticket is only good for admittance to "entertainment" or they'd have to do a LOT of stuff including potentially having to tear apart the Patriots ex post facto (after the fact).

Considering the ticky tack fouls we got on game changing/winning plays, it wouldn't surprise me AT ALL to find that the league didn't want Lawrence to go to the Jets and chose this game.

Well, they probably chose the Raider game, but they didn't count on GW bringing a zero blitz.

But yeah. Ever since SB 36 with the Patriot 9/11 bowl, every single SB has been competitive to the end AND had some serious narrative.

You'll never see a team that just wins in boring fashion without some mega heart wrenching story.

Well, that or the NFL is also very comfortable with a Chief's dynasty to follow the Pats dynasty.

Apparently dynasties are good for business...

You're right, but the Jags would be idiots to take 4 #1s.

the Jets fucked up...royally. Take the W, draft Lawrence and profit.

Or take four #1 picks, and a couple of seconds. t's not like there aren't great quarterbacks in this year's class; there are literally four others who are legit first round picks.

And that jumpstarts a rebuilding period. Look at us with RG3.

The Jets tried to lose, the Rams just wouldn't let it happen.
