So here is what I think. We should see what Atlanta does against Carolina. When we do, we will know if we need to sit players. If we lose and New Orleans wins, we could move to 4th seed and they would be the 3rd seed. We have to win against the 49ers but get starters out earlier.

Rams are lookin at either the 3 or 4 seed. Since it doesn't have the option of adding a bye (i.e. we have no chance of getting the 1 or 2 seeds) I would rest the starters. No doubt about it. Health is #1 priority going into the playoffs IMO.

IF the Saints jump us then most likely the impact is we face the Panthers instead of Falcons/Seahawks. Whoopideedoo.

Round 2 impact is that we'd probably draw the Eagles. I don't expect either the Rams or Saints to lose in round 1, so the Eagles matchup is preferred over going to Minnesota.

NFC Championship round impact is that we might end up going to New Orleans instead of Minnesota. If that does happen, it's a godsend IMO, as the Vikings are our worst matchup.

Rest the starters. Just do it.

We may be in the minority but this is how I would hope they approach it. The Niners will be playing us hard for pride and to extend their meaningless streak.

I want to go into the playoffs healthy not banged up. Rest the starters or as many as you can.

I’ll take Carolina at home then Philly instead of Atlanta or Seattle then Minnesota. Let the Saints beat up on Minnesota.

Let’s see how Mcvay plays it.

You make a strong argument for rest.

I don't know about playing the Eagles outside as opposed to the Vikings inside in January. I would not want to play the Saints in their dome either. It's interesting.

The topic is surreal ... amazing to have this to ponder in late December...wow!

The game next week is basically for 3rd or 4th seed and an opportunity to play at home against either the Panthers or Falcons/Squawks in week-one. Otherwise, I think the only difference would be home field for the NFC championship if the Saints win out to that point too.

In any event... I'd really like to see us take it to Frisco next week... our sworn and mortal enemy, who is looking pretty tough these days.

The only advantage to resting the starters, is that this team has not lost back to back games all year so a loss would almost insure a 1st rd win in playoffs. I believe each loss has been followed by at least 2 wins, although a 7 game win streak following the philly loss sounds better than a loss to the whiners.

And yet in '99 he rested the starters in Philly and the team had zero problems getting their edge back as they went on to win it all. With a healthy team

Once they were into the game as I recall.

Yeah it's great. Really enjoying looking ahead a little bit now. In the end the Rams gotta win four in a row to win it all against a quality field, but looking at the differences in how the seeds will play out is fun.

The seeding will be determined by the time our game kicks off with New Orleans, Carolina and Atlanta all playing in the early games

I think?:bueller:

The NFL flexed all the games with playoff implications to the 4:25 start time to insure that teams dont get a competitve advantage by knowing the outcome of any game that may alow them to rest players as they dont need a win.

I'd activate everyone we can from the practice squad and put the key offensive starters (or anyone banged up) in street clothes. Play defense for a quarter just to show the niners that they can't score on us, then sit them down too. The top two seeds are locked in and will rest their starters week 17 and then they'll have their byes. I'd rather have one less game's worth of injuries when we play in the divisional round and, if given my druthers, I'd probably rather play a road game in Philly (4th seed playing 1st) than Minnesota (3rd seed playing 2nd) anyway. Then again, twelve and four is pretty good. (Apologies to Bill Walsh).

I would play to win. First, if Gurley has a big day, I think he wins MVP and, although no one will admit it, I think that means a lot to many. Second, I can see us vs the Saints in the NFC chipper. Would you rather play that at home or in their dome? The Saints sacked Matt Ryan five times yesterday. I think we’d match up well against the Falcons in the first round. If not them, then Seattle and we all know how that would go.

Round two I like our chances at Minnesota. Remember it was 7-7 going into the fourth before we lost our corner. Philly could be a blizzard and that would negate our offense weapons. I still think we would beat them but I like the chances at Minnesota as well. The Niners and Garopplo won’t be easy. They’ll be out to prove a point. Our secondary will need to play better than they did vs the Titans. Our offense will be fine. Play to win and keep the wagon train rolling.

At the beginning of the year I predicted us to finish 11-5.... boy do I wanna be wrong.....12 -4 and another victory over the hot 49ers would be absolutely fantastic. ....go Rams.....that being said.... whatever we decide to do I'm on board with..... health wise we have done everything right so far.

Go Rams...... ;)

I see that now, but when I checked yesterday ESPN had them all at 1o'clock

Thanks

I would rather play the Falcons/Hags than play the Panthers. So, play the starters next week. Quite frankly though.... the Whiners are on a roll.
Idk I rather play the panthers they don’t offer much besides an OK running game.

The falcons in the other hand is a team that was just in the Super Bowl have 2 running backs that does it all and have Julio and a improving secondary. I rather face Seattle but if it comes down to falcons or Panthers I rather play the panthers

We need to play for two reasons:
1) It's important to maintain our 3rd seed!
2) "COME-ON" It's the 49ers, after beating the Jag's they have a 4 game Winning streak going, and they think there Shit-Don't-Stink! It won't be a 'Cake-Walk'!
And besides it's "Throw-Back-Day"!! " We must Destroy them"!!

Neither the 1 or 2 seeds is a lock to win their home games, that 3 seed could mean being at home for the NFC Championship game if the Rams are fortunate enough to advance there themselves. Gotta play for it.

Not me .... Panthers D is much better than the Falcons and Cam - while he is inconsistent - can still win any game that he plays in.

Question, if the Saints lose and Carolina wins, who has the tie breaker in a Rams/ Panters tie?

I assume us since they are both 7-4 In conference and we likely have better record in common opponent since the Rams beat the Saints, but they did beat the Vikings... just curious becauae that the has not been mentioned.

They keep placing the Rams in 3rd because of the the tie breakers the Rams have over the Saints and the tie breaker the Saints have over the Panthers.
