You have to go all in and play to win. McVay is giving them Monday and Tuesday off and I would imagine he gives the vets there usual extra rest. They could use a week off but, they are at home so no travel. Eagles and Vikings could lose their first games and Rams get championship home game.

Agreed! If we had home field advantage all sown up, we could rest people. But the Philly/Minny losses screwed that up. Start fast; score early; build up a great lead; then start pulling starters one by one to standing ovations from the home crowd while the backups hold down the fort and get valuable game time.

"I would prefer that we start fast & furious against 'Frisco and run up the score by halftime. Start pulling the starters out in the third quarter and hold onto the lead to sweep the '9ers this season"

I'm hearing arguments on both sides. I think we rest our starters if we have nothing to gain by winning next week.

What say you ?

Yeah I don't think it does. We just have one home game during the playoffs. Don't think we can get a bye or anything.

Someone correct me if I'm mistaken

You have to play for the 3rd seed unless you want to play the Panthers in the first round.

Rams are lookin at either the 3 or 4 seed. Since it doesn't have the option of adding a bye (i.e. we have no chance of getting the 1 or 2 seeds) I would rest the starters. No doubt about it. Health is #1 priority going into the playoffs IMO.

IF the Saints jump us then most likely the impact is we face the Panthers instead of Falcons/Seahawks. Whoopideedoo.

Round 2 impact is that we'd probably draw the Eagles. I don't expect either the Rams or Saints to lose in round 1, so the Eagles matchup is preferred over going to Minnesota.

NFC Championship round impact is that we might end up going to New Orleans instead of Minnesota. If that does happen, it's a godsend IMO, as the Vikings are our worst matchup.

Rest the starters. Just do it.

was having a similar discussion with wifey

our good luck jerseys seem to be lucky for 3 weeks..no more than that. So, do we wear them next week, or do we wash them and not wear them until playoffs start?

Might have to start a separate thread on this predicament

I think you play the starters.

Take the momentum into the playoffs.

Get a lead and sit them in the second half.

Third seed is worth playing for.

I think we start our first string.

To quote Coach Vermeil when he was asked the question of whether or not he was going to play his starters.....i.e. if he was going to rest them..."It's awfully hard to get the edge back on a team if you lose it."

I say start the first string just to keep the rust off.....then rest them once into the game.
Maybe by halftime....??

Second half adjustments might mean some players are going to the bench. I really don't think it matters if were winning or loosing. I think all first teams start the game.

Some could benefit with two weeks off. Whitworth and Sully for sure. Mannion could benefit by starting and playing a whole game. Would be a good time to get Justin Davis some game experience. Brockers and Donald could use some rest.

Some great points for both sides. I’m definitely on the fence cause I would hate for anyone to get hurt. I recognize the importance of the starters playing and that’s how I prefer it but McVay is a different beast I don’t think he would have any problem keeping the guys motivated and ready to play if he didn’t play the starters next week

The seeding will be determined by the time our game kicks off with New Orleans, Carolina and Atlanta all playing in the early games

I think?:bueller:

And yet in '99 he rested the starters in Philly and the team had zero problems getting their edge back as they went on to win it all. With a healthy team.

Not sure but I don't think it's really going to matter who the Rams draw in the first round. They will win their round one game and go on to face either the Vikes or the Eagles. Round two is where the clear preference is the Eagles which means the 4 seed has the preferred path, provided the Eagles don't lose the last weekend.

He played his starters but pulled them in the 2nd half. Warner was still in there in the 3rd quarter.

Right you are. For some reason I remembered it as they rested the starters, maybe because we lost the game.

I would rather play the Falcons/Hags than play the Panthers. So, play the starters next week. Quite frankly though.... the Whiners are on a roll.

Play to win. You don't sit on sh*t, unless your taking a sh*t. This team is going for the gusto. Play.
