Seems like the Rams are losing a lot of key players so far this offseason! Just wondering if the Rams have some kind of Surprise/Huge Plan to replace these players or it is all just Salary Cap moves that have to be made!

I a certainly hoping that Les Snead and the Rams have some plans to adequately replace the players that they are losing OR it could be some rough seasons ahead for the Rams and us Rams Fans!!

That's the plan, McVay and Snead have talked about it with the cap situation they're in.

It's going to be a few rough years, for sure. But to think Les/McVay don't have a plan is silly.
In short, I trust these guys.
We got the ring, will pay for it for few years, and be on top shortly. You watch.

I think the Rams still have enough good players and with a good draft, can still be relevant next season. I don't buy that the whiners will at least win the NFC West and at least make the NFCCG when they are unsure of their QB position. I hope they crash and burn again. :)

Absolutely they have a plan. They knew this day would be coming only it came a year early IMO. Stafford's injuries changed the variables and advanced the timeline.

They will have a leaner roster but IMO no less capable of being competitive, i.e. in the hunt. The moves they make in free agency and draft will reveal that plan.

Man, you continue to show me why you are one my most-respected posters!

Edwards- A bit on homerism, but I always have believed he would be an 8-year vet. Too athletic (don't kill me, this was against college competition) and smart not to make it. He'll make more than either of us next year.

Bruss- I honestly wasn't that impressed by him. I saw the accolades, but rarely the ass-kicker of Badger lineman I've grown accustomed-to. I believe in him, though I had him in the late 3rd/early 4th, because the Rams were feeling blessed when they chose him and I trust McSnead!

Agree - Edwards might help The Rams get a comp pick ? Careberry never coached him up.

Bruss needs to step up.The way he comes into OTA’s will show how much he wants it.If he bulked up then he might have what it takes.
Big Rob- ? Rams need a solid swing backup.

How can you seriously ask that question?

What is the plan?
Is it a good plan?
Is it achievable?
Will it work?

All good questions.

Do they have a plan? Of course they do.

I am not sold on Bruss, I didn't think he was nasty enough. He got bullied at times, there is a lot to work with physically but he needs to step up in both his mental game and on the field. I am hopeful and remaining optimistic with reservation

The plan is the cut or trade all reliable players and to remodel around all unreliable players.

Our OL will consist of Allen, Edwards, Noteboom and 2 packs of gum.

Our Defensive pass rush will be outsourced to Chinese weather balloons.

And we will hire retired US special forces to sabotage our opponents Gatorade before any nationally televised games.

We will win the division in 2030 though so it will be worth it.

Zach Thomas started primarily at both OT positions at SDSU. He did start a few games at RG and in the NFL he projects as a OG. One thing that stood out in his film is that he has movement skills. He can pull and also make blocks on the second level. This is what one of the Bears beat writers wrote about Thomas after he was picked in the upper part of the 6th round. With good coaching, he can be developed into a quality starter. Regardless he will be an upgrade to Edwards at LG. He has the movement skills and vision lacking in Edwards.

Jacob Infante

Thomas tested very well at the Combine, finishing with elite numbers in agility drills and ran a sub-5.0 40-yard dash. The three-year starter played predominantly at left tackle for the Aztecs, but he projects best as a guard at the next level.

Thomas is a coordinated athlete who can block on the move very well, showcasing good acceleration climbing to the second level and mobility in pass protection. He has shown serious promise in terms of his pad level, keeping his pads low and his weight underneath him at the point of attack. He also plays with a mean streak and a willingness to drive defenders into the dirt,

Logan Bruss was picked specifically to play RG. He played on the right side in college, at both RT and RG. In Bruss they got the guy McVay wanted to play at RG. Let us see how he looks in TC before we pass judgment. Since starters aren't played in preseason it won't be until September before we see Bruss in actual gameplay. Kris Dielman a retired pro bowl OG once told me the things you want in an OG, good feet, physical strength, vision, and good hand play. He said the big difference between the NFL and college is not just the speed of the game but the NFL is technique intensive. You can have all four of those traits but if you have poor technique you will get beat and potentially hurt.

This is what the NFL Draft Bible said about Bruss:

Logan Bruss, a versatile blocker with starting experience at guard and tackle... An impressive mover with excellent short-area quickness,
He can pull, climb and reach block. What’s more, he is very efficient in engaging in space... Further, Bruss has a flexible frame that helps him anchor... also exhibits impressive leverage into engagement in terms of both his pad level and his hand placement he supports his anchor with a wide base.

He seems to have the basic prerequisites he just needs consistency in his play which comes from good coaching. I think those are the traits the Rams saw in Logan and knew he had the foundations upon which to build to get a good player.

IMO Bruss RG and Thomas LG will probably be the starting OGs. If Allen is healthy he should be the starting center which will complete the starting interior OL. With swing OT Jackson, Swing OG Brewer and backup center Kolone or Toner.

Is it me or does that thing defy the laws of physics in how it falls.
Nothing defies the laws of physics, only our understanding of them.

A perfect analogue to the question posed in this thread. There is a plan, we may not see it or understand it, but it is there.

The plan is in the Draft. 4 compensatory picks, 3 5th rounders and a seventh.
So 2nd rounder, 3rd rounder, 3 5th's, 3 6th's and 2 7th rounders. 10 picks total. That's the plan it would appear and they can add further picks with a Ramsey trade.
