Zach Thomas started primarily at both OT positions at SDSU. He did start a few games at RG and in the NFL he projects as a OG. One thing that stood out in his film is that he has movement skills. He can pull and also make blocks on the second level. This is what one of the Bears beat writers wrote about Thomas after he was picked in the upper part of the 6th round. With good coaching, he can be developed into a quality starter. Regardless he will be an upgrade to Edwards at LG. He has the movement skills and vision lacking in Edwards.

Thomas tested very well at the Combine, finishing with elite numbers in agility drills and ran a sub-5.0 40-yard dash. The three-year starter played predominantly at left tackle for the Aztecs, but he projects best as a guard at the next level.
Thomas is a coordinated athlete who can block on the move very well, showcasing good acceleration climbing to the second level and mobility in pass protection. He has shown serious promise in terms of his pad level, keeping his pads low and his weight underneath him at the point of attack. He also plays with a mean streak and a willingness to drive defenders into the dirt,
Logan Bruss was picked specifically to play RG. He played on the right side in college, at both RT and RG. In Bruss they got the guy McVay wanted to play at RG. Let us see how he looks in TC before we pass judgment. Since starters aren't played in preseason it won't be until September before we see Bruss in actual gameplay. Kris Dielman a retired pro bowl OG once told me the things you want in an OG, good feet, physical strength, vision, and good hand play. He said the big difference between the NFL and college is not just the speed of the game but the NFL is technique intensive. You can have all four of those traits but if you have poor technique you will get beat and potentially hurt.
This is what the NFL Draft Bible said about Bruss:
Logan Bruss, a versatile blocker with starting experience at guard and tackle... An impressive mover with excellent short-area quickness,
He can pull, climb and reach block. What’s more, he is very efficient in engaging in space... Further, Bruss has a flexible frame that helps him anchor... also exhibits impressive leverage into engagement in terms of both his pad level and his hand placement he supports his anchor with a wide base.
He seems to have the basic prerequisites he just needs consistency in his play which comes from good coaching. I think those are the traits the Rams saw in Logan and knew he had the foundations upon which to build to get a good player.
IMO Bruss RG and Thomas LG will probably be the starting OGs. If Allen is healthy he should be the starting center which will complete the starting interior OL. With swing OT Jackson, Swing OG Brewer and backup center Kolone or Toner.
