So did any QB who did well in his first year. Big Ben, Russel Wilson, Purdy, Hurst, Lamar Jackson, Bo Nix, Wentz. No QB can perform without talent around him. But this kid so far looks a bit different than most. Most times they spoon feed the offense to protect them and call plays they are familiar with from collage and maybe they did with Daniels at first, but this kid has no doubts in his ability and neither does the team no matter the situation. No panic. He is scary. Looks like Mahomes after he sat a year.Dude's Poise is unreal.
But like CJ Stroud, he had a tremendous supporting cast in his rookie year.
Being in the fetal position will make it a lot easier.Campbell that cocksucker can bite his own knee caps tonight.
Welcome to the party pal!how about jared goff....
i'm probably one of the biggest goff apologists on this site...
but he showed me why mcvay was so frustrated with him, as i was, late in this contest..
the checkdowns were the backbreaker for the lions... he needed to go deep, but never did...
i was screaming at the tv for him to go deep...
and most likely there were deep opportunities (i'll have to check all 22 to confirm)...
we got the right guy... i can no longer wonder that...
go rams
slo
refs can't see the whole field. The rules are rules. He got hit in the head. So come on man. Either follow the rules or ignore them.
Agree, who cares, but I just want to point out, on washingtons 1st possesion the lions lost a starting CB because his own guy wanted to get another hit on a guy who was already wrapped up and going down. There sometimes is a price to pay for the lions type of Defensive attitude. I suspect a significant percentage of the injuries are self inflicted. Either by friendly fire like that one or just from hitting hard all the time.Aidan Hutchinson was having a DPOY-level season when he got injured. And then they put 16 guys on IR. Their defense had 30 different starters over the course of the year. Their D got decimated like our O-line did in 2022.
So yeah, if not for the injuries, I think they might have... well.... ah, who cares. Tough shit.
No they wouldn't. Goff is no Kurt Warner and never will be.Detroit needs a defense. And I think even if they had most of those guys who got injured they still might have struggled to stop Washington. That offense is hitting at the perfect time.
If you got the QB you can scrape a bit on offense, assuming your defense gets the ball back to them. Detroit's got an all universe offense but if they had a defense they'd be the '99 Rams reborn.
Yeah I mean that roster is loaded. We know who Goff is. I wonder if the Lions do. Holmes knows. He built that roster to support a QB who excels when he isn’t asked to carry the load or make the big plays when shit ain’t working. No they wouldn't. Goff is no Kurt Warner and never will be.
Goff was w everything we traded away tonight - but he is still young and proved this year that he is a force to be reckoned with in this league
Agreed he is no Warner. But he's got that level of offense around him. So what he needs in order to win it all is a much stronger defense opposite. No they wouldn't. Goff is no Kurt Warner and never will be.

They are now where McVay was with Goff, where he had to look at it and determine whether he can build it enough around him to win it all. Problem is their owner is not Kroenke. So the next two years of massive cap hits need to be ridden out by them regardless.Yeah I mean that roster is loaded. We know who Goff is. I wonder if the Lions do. Holmes knows. I’m drafting a QB if I’m the Lions. Goff isn’t the answer into January and February. We know this.
Sure the Lions’ D was missing guys so that was a factor in getting beat, but it’s not like WASH rolled out an elite D last night. They simply zeroed in on the weakest link. That cannot be your QB. Just can’t.
Right - Lions don't lose that game if not for all the injuries on defense.Agreed he is no Warner. But he's got that level of offense around him. So what he needs in order to win it all is a much stronger defense opposite.

This is why defense is the key for them. They won't be able to move him and escape from the contract. I think there is a path for almost any QB to win a title (most recent shit QB to benefit thusly was Foles), it's simply a matter of how much do you need around him to do so. So invest in that defense in the draft and load the shit out of it.
Defense is the great friend of QBs. The magnifier of their potency due to its ability to minimize stalled drives and provide additional opportunities.
I don't buy that. I didn't like their defense prior to the injuries. Still don't like it. They're short on that side of the ball, need more dominance to ensure Goff hoists that Lombardi.Lions don't lose that game if not for all the injuries on defense.
