I don't know anything about this writer except that he says he's been covering the Whiners for 11 years and he does make some assumptions in the article but still, I like the sound of any cracks forming in San Fran.

Dissension on the 49ers?

I've never seen this level of dissension on the 49ers in my 11 seasons covering the team.

SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers have acted awfully strange following their first loss of the season.
In the politest, most professional tone possible, it seems the players blamed the coaches for the loss, while the coaches blamed the players. I've never seen this level of dissension on the 49ers in my 11 seasons covering the team.
Here's what I mean.
Why isn't the 49ers' running game working?
George Kittle immediately after the loss: "They were loading the box. Did all they could do to take away our double teams. They had set up the defense to let us get our double team, but then they're setting the edge with two guys, so there's not really much you can do there. I trust in [head] coach [Kyle] Shanahan and [offensive coordinator] Mike McDaniel, they’ll get after that and they'll figure out a way to avoid that next time. Because I'm assuming a lot of defenses are going to try to do that because they did a good job of eliminating our outside zone.”
Translation: We had no schematic answer for the defensive fronts the Packers showed. There was nothing more the players could do. The coaches need to find a solution.
Jimmy Garoppolo on Wednesday: "You scout things, the coaches do a great job all week of that and the game comes and you’ve got to react to what they deal you. So it's a bit of just executing the tough looks that maybe we didn't plan for."
Translation: The coaches aren't preparing the players for the defensive fronts they're facing during games. The players are surprised by the looks they're facing. The coaches primarily are at fault.
Offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel on Thursday: "It also has to do with them executing stuff that the next day on tape. I know George sees stuff and he's like, ‘Hey, we could have done this, that or whatever."
Translation: It's the players' fault for not executing the plays better.
See what I mean?
The same thing is happening on defense. This past Sunday, the Packers eliminated Nick Bosa from the game simply by chipping him with a tight end. Not good for the 49ers.
Why can't the 49ers defeat the chips?
Defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans this Thursday: "When you have a great rusher like Bosa, teams, they have to find a way to handle him. And that's what teams have been doing. They've been chipping him a lot and he's garnered a lot of attention because of the type of player that he is. Great players, you’ve got to handle them and that's what teams are doing against him. They're chipping him.”
Translation: The chips are inevitable for Bosa. He needs to expect them and find a way to beat them.
Bosa 30 minutes after Ryans: "(There are) certain chip-beaters that (defensive line coach) Kris (Kocurek) has used over the years -- we just have to get them called and execute them...there are other ones that we didn't get to. I'm not sure why, but we're definitely going to be better about it."
Translation: Ryans needs to call "chip-beaters," but didn't call them enough on Sunday, which means he didn't adjust and he's at fault.
I've never seen players point the finger so publicly at their coaches before. Sure, coaches always pass off blame, and the players usually accept it. That's the culture of football.
This 49ers team sure has a strange culture.

Kittle is talented but talks wayyyyy too much. He needs to work more on getting back to his top form vs speaking against any coaches or other players.

Ive never liked Shannahans Napoleon syndrome he has. That type of coaching only works for a while before cohesion stops working for you.

Now as far as it being the Whiners organization? I hope beyond hope this distinction starts to take hold and take a dump on them for years that’ll ruin Lances chances of becoming something.

Run that coach and GM out of there. Bring in a Scott Linehan type or maybe Spags 4 pillars.

New book claims Tom Brady wanted to end his career with the 49ers; here's why it didn't happen

The 49ers apparently rejected Tom Brady

After making the decision to leave New England back in February 2020, Tom Brady apparently already had his mind made up about who he was going to sign with during free agency -- and it definitely wasn't the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
According to a new book by ESPN's Seth Wickersham, Brady was hoping to end his career with the San Francisco 49ers. According to the book, which is titled "It's Better To Be Feared," Brady actually reached out to his good friend Wes Welker, who had just finished his first season as the receivers coach for the 49ers.
During the conversation, which happened at some point after the 49ers lost to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, Brady made it clear he would immediately sign with the 49ers if they would have him.
In an excerpt from the book (via NBC Bay Area), Brady promised Welker that there would be "no free-agency tour, no bidding war, full stop; he would end his career where his love of football began, in scarlet and gold, allowing his parents to drive to (his) games for the first time since the 1990s."

Not only did Brady grow up in the Bay Area, but he was also a huge 49ers fan as a kid. As a matter of fact, he was at Candlestick Park for one of the most iconic plays in NFL history: Dwight Clark's catch in the 1981 NFC title game.

Brady was also at Candlestick for Joe Montana's final game with the 49ers in December 1992.
So if Brady wanted to play for the 49ers, why didn't he end up in San Francisco? According to the book, it's because the coaching staff didn't feel like he would be much of an upgrade over Jimmy Garoppolo. After Kyle Shanahan heard about Brady's interest, he approached his offensive assistants. They watched every throw Brady made during his final season with the Patriots in 2019, and they just didn't feel like it was worth it to replace Garoppolo. Remember, after the 2019 season, Garoppolo was coming off a Super Bowl appearance while Brady was coming off one of the worst seasons of his career.

Shanahan admitted in 2020 that the 49ers looked into Brady but nothing ever came of it.
"All of a sudden, you hear arguably the greatest quarterback of all time is all of a sudden available, and there is a possibility that he could want to come to your team, and things like that," Shanahan told The Athletic in April 2020, one month after Brady signed with the Buccaneers. "And when you hear that stuff, and it actually is realistic, for you not to look into it, to me, would be completely irresponsible. Once we realized and heard this could be realistic -- this isn't just talk -- we looked into it all, especially with the respect we have for Tom and everything, and how great of a player he is. We looked into it to try to see if it would be better for our team this year and in the future. When we weighed it all together, we didn't think it would. ... We felt great with where we were at, and kind of confirmed how we are with Jimmy."
Basically, it feels like the 49ers looked at Brady's age and felt the future was brighter with Garoppolo, which almost seems ironic now since he's soon going to be replaced by Trey Lance.

At the time of Brady's free agency tour, there were a few reports that said he was interested in the 49ers. One of those came from Wickersham, who wrote on March 22, 2020, that Brady "made it clear through various channels" that he wanted to go to San Francisco. Chris Simms of Pro Football Talk also had reported on March 15, 2020, that the 49ers decided they didn't want Brady.
What was unknown to this point was how serious Brady was about playing for the 49ers. Based on the fact that he was willing to forgo a free agency tour to sign with his hometown team, it's pretty clear he wanted to end his career in San Francisco. The 49ers just didn't want him.

Of course, like almost every situation involving Brady, he eventually got the last laugh. He ended up winning the Super Bowl last year while the injury-ravaged 49ers ended the season in the NFC West cellar.

Maybe they’re ready to see Lance, I saw a stat that Garapalo had a yds/attempt that was near the bottom of the league. Maybe that’s shanny’s offense or maybe that’s just Jimmy. Seems like he goes sidearm all the time which would seem to sail the ball. To be fair if it weren’t for some Aaron Rodgers shit the 9ers woulda won that game, but he doesn’t drive the ball so he has to throw it early.

My thoughts usually go as follows:
-Hope for Health & Happiness for my Son and Family
-Then I ask myself what is best in life?"
”To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of 49er fans.”

I wonder if Brady rang up Wes after his SB win like "You're right, totally not an upgrade or anything, it's not as if you guys lost to the Chiefs or anything."

I wouldn't be surprised if there's some bumpy roads in the future for them, when you're not set at QB, and they're not because they drafted Lance to take over and he's not starting yet, there's bound to be some.

I like the culture here of people putting them onus on themselves, even if they don't truly believe it. Maturity and leadership in spades in LA, I think that's what will set us apart from the rest of the pack as the season goes on.

Not sure if this 49ers dissension is a "thing" yet, but if it is, here's hoping it persists and gets worse. Below, a link to a vid of Cohn discussing the dissension, as well as the Bosa presser, where he talks like a mealy-mouthed doofus.

In comparing Shanahan to McVay, gotta say I think McVay is better at instilling a positive atmosphere, which IMHO is easier to maintain for the long haul. Love that McVay talks about "urgent enjoyment." His team is performing at an elite level, and the players are having a blast while doing so.

Hmm. Not sure what to think?

The article read like a lot of assumptions. But, the Bosa interview did seem a veiled swipe… maybe.

A loss to the Seahawks will open up cracks if they are there.
