Poor execution, poor game planning, poor tackling, poor catching, ill timed penalties. That first possession just awful. Of course they're going to call counters and screen passes. It would have been worse if the niners had a competent quarterback.

And the defense. There was NO REASON after knowing that Grab-A-Pole was going to always get rid of it in under 2 seconds... there was NO REASON to play soft and let the underneath passes be wide open. And I don't want to have to go into a big explanation as to why but ... we HAVE TO blitz much more often. We just have to.

And play more press coverage, especially against a weak WR corps like they have. That was an awful gameplan to start out with by Staley. He adjusted some in the 2nd half, but it doesn't excuse the first half crap, especially against a mediocre QB and average at best WR's. And not putting Ramsey all over Kittle made it worse.

Can't stop the run, LBs cant cover or tackle in space..that seems like the same ol story.

But for the offense to come out and play like they did versus a defense this bad with the most injured starters in the league? We averaged 5.9 a carry but still went 4-13 on 3rd down. If you cant complete passes in known passing situations you don't win in this league.
I know they have a lot of injuries and its really affected their pass rush but their D doesn't suck. They made a big mistake starting a guy they pick off the streets at CB vs Miami. I knew they were going to be much better this week. Still think McVay and Kupp helped them out a lot in this game.

The Mr Excuses in me says that the Rams have every reason to be travel weary with this ridiculous early season schedule but you can't drop the first divisional game no matter what. Ya just can't do that.

Thats a thing that had crossed my mind. 3 early East coast games in 4 weeks, then a late game. But now I'm just making excuses when bad play is as likely

A few more curse words, and I would have given you a thread winner. That was way too reserved for a vent thread vs the 49ers

Niners wanted it more. They were more physical and more focused.

2 yard gains went for 8

Passes to our guys were dropped.

Oh well. On to the Bears. Now we are the Mad team and at home.

They're not that good, we made them look good tonight..What do you think they do against us with Bosa, Dee Ford, Kwan Alexander and Sherman starting?? Goff wasn't under any pressure tonight and he still played bad. Cooper with a huge, huge drop that hurt us. Just sloppy..but the defense came out and gave us a shot in the 2nd half. This one is on the O without a doubt.

We haven't beat a good team yet this year so I'll believe this team is real when I see it. The 2nd half of Buffalo is the best we've looked but inconsistency doesn't work in this league.

It's great to have a defense shutting teams down in the 2nd half and all, but it would be even better if they could play the first half with a little more sense of urgency

Well, you can color me extremely disappointed after this one. We had the niner's ripe for the picking and we shit the bed... Knew it when Goff overthrew kupp on the first drive that they were off. Hope this one serves as a lesson...

When I saw Goff miss a wide open Kupp on the second pass play, I went uh oh.

It seems like when Goff misses a wide open player early in the game, it usually means he is off that day and we usually end up losing.

At least that's what it seems to me.

If we went to 5-1 and the 49ers dropped to 2-4, it likely would have ended San Francisco's season given that Seattle has yet to lose. I doubt they'd be able make up that much ground. Not with their injuries. The 49s came out desperate. They were fighting for their season. The Rams might have been guilty of looking past them. San Fran wanted it more and it showed. This loss still stings though. With all of the injuries the 49ers have, the Rams have no excuse for taking the L.
