Ugh. What a mess.

I rarely agree with dieterbrock, but in this thread I do. Big part of the problem is the "grey area" surrounding prostitution in this country.

A lot of situations where a guy has to wonder: is this masseuse a "rub and tug" gal, or is she strictly massage only? Who knows?

As long as "massage parlors" are in such a grey area, masseuses are unfortunately going to have to expect that some guys--maybe many guys-- will push the boundaries and ask for "favors," sometimes aggressively.

If Watson asked "politely" whether or not a sexual favor could be exchanged for money, I personally don't see much wrong with that. If he is creepy and aggressive and rubs his erect dick against her, then yes, that's assault.

Ugh, what a mess. Worst part is we may never know the truth.

Depends what you mean by "massage parlors" - if you know about this stuff or research it, it's only in the shadier locations that this stuff normally happens - which means that only masseuses in these establishments should have to be cognizant that a man might want that.

I really doubt that Watson is getting those types of masseuses.

One complaint reads that he found the girl on Instagram. Where would a masseuse that advertises on Instagram and comes to your home fall in this analysis? I honestly don’t know - I’m not a massage guy - I’ve never been to a “parlor” - did a few couple massages with the wife on vacation but it was pretty clear that it wasn’t going to end with a handy.

First you say "there's no way you can force someone to blow you" which is dumb and then you completely disregard the article I linked that states the third accuser said Watson "forced her to perform oral sex" on him. You're either intentionally being daft or lack the capacity to admit you were wrong. Either way I'm not wasting anymore time with this idiocy.
 
@WestCoastRam does anything jump out to you that Watson fits the profile of needing to coerce and dominate women in the massage industry? He has a sister. Maybe because he thinks he can get away with it?

You would think being a celebrity he could date a masseuse.

I'm surprised Charlie Sheen isn't more of an inspiration for wealthy celebrities looking to 'hook-up'.

I recently heard on local news it is up to 12 allegations now. More will be revealed.
 
Legal brothels exist in this country. Many of those women will make outcalls, will go on dates with guaranteed outcomes. That doesn't include international options. With his money he would have no problem getting laid if that's all he wants. This simply shows his lack of maturity, arrogance, stupidity, and sense of entitlement of a young guy with mega bucks. No team will invest big guaranteed money with a "kid" with those issues.

Either this guy rounded up a TON of Jane Does looking to get paid or...

Deshaun Watson is a serial assaulter and after his settlement which I can guarantee is gonna be sealed, it'll be one of those "Deshaun Watson disagrees that he did anything appropriate. He respects women and would never do these things. However... in order to ensure these women get the support they need right now and to put these misunderstandings behind us, Mr Watson has chosen to settle and move on."

Either way, it's terribly unfortunate.

Beyond pursuing 12 lawsuits and counting against Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, lawyer Tony Buzbee will commence on Monday an effort to spark a criminal prosecution of Watson.
“Per advice from a well known criminal defense attorney,” Buzbee said Saturday night on social media, “[o]ur team will be submitting affidavits and evidence from several women, who had experiences with Deshaun Watson, to the Houston Police Department and the Houston District Attorney, on Monday morning. We will request that a grand jury be empaneled to consider the evidence we provide.”

Requesting a grand jury to be empaneled won’t automatically result in a grand jury being empaneled. First, the prosecutors must decide whether to pursue the cases.
The high bar of proof beyond a reasonable doubt becomes a major factor for prosecutors in deciding whether to proceed with criminal cases. Most prosecutors only pursue matters that they know they can win. Cases based on two witnesses who will test diametrically opposed stories become difficult to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.
It will be for the prosecutors to decide the proper exercise of the vast discretion that the office has at its disposal. That will be based on the evidence received from Buzbee, and on whatever Watson’s lawyer makes available, if anything, to persuade prosecutors that reasonable doubt exists.

Well, and I can't say this enough, I hope it's not true for the guy. Like him as an athlete. That being said, you would expect this to happen a significant number of times if he was an offender. The amount of people coming forward seems to point to that.

And we could have a whole convo on legalizing sex work (which, yes, is different than massage) but having parlors and independent contractors able to work with - say - written contracts of what behaviors are and are not allowed would actually go a long way in reducing this kind of behavior. Offenders have the ability to push the line towards sexual assault because the line is ill-defined for these workers.
