Well now that D. Jackson has signed there was a question about him returning Punts. He didn’t go on the record to say he was going to be a PR.
He did get excited & say we have something’s brew & kept it in the bag for now.I guarantee he returns punts, maybe not the so called Rams PR.Copper Kupp did it last season as well & DJ is a lot more explosive. At Cal he was one of the best. They have had so many play makers come out of Cal.He just stood out,but has had ankle trouble over his career.
He has matured so much & he states all the things I’ve brought up over time.Never played at Darby Park though. He brings that Old School So Cal back.He is a Mcvay guy 100.
He absolutely, positively, will not be returning punts. That is exactly how he ended up getting hurt last year. Hadnt returned a punt in over 2 years, begs to return one, and Giants cheap shot him thus breaking his ankle.
Nope, no way
Deep routes, jet sweeps and causing teams to play a safety deep. Thats what hes in LA for

well one thing that is hard to deny... when he plays he is a legit deep threat... even last year at his older age 17 yards per reception.

He's small and thin. Getting clocked in that condition when you're 24 years old is a lot different than getting clocked at 34 years old. The Rams have to be smart with him and limit his collisions. Not a pitch count like Gurley but certainly no drag routes across the middle or anything like that that could get him maimed. A contact count, so sending him deep should be the plan.

I don't know where the OA got his $2.5M figure from because Jackson signed a one year deal for $4.5M (per Spotrac). That's a lot to pay a guy at the end of his career and injury-prone. He will have to be an impact player and play the entire season to justify that contract IMO. The types of injuries could be indicative of a player trying to regain lost form. How injury prone? Sorry but I for one don't see this as the best of signings, especially since who knows how much speed he's lost.

The Rams have written off tens of millions in much bigger contracts the last couple of years. Jackson's contract is a pittance compared to that.
Well of course it is when compared to that, but you are comparing apples to oranges there. Jackson's contract should and was rightfully tied to making him earn it by his availability. Doing otherwise would have been a really stupid contract for the Rams to have offered him. Saying its a pittance doesn't change that fact.

agree only to the sense of all the other parts are right. I’m not saying he will be thenPunt returner.I think he will be in the mix, especially if Copper Kupp is back there in practice returning punts.
Your answer only makes me think it will happen even more. Begs & takes a cheap shot. His excitement when ask the question said a lot.Mcvay & DJ have a few things brewing was the answer.
—Total situational only is mine

As will I, but I fail to see why people think if you’re critical of the mistakes somebody makes you also can’t be appreciative of their successes.
True, but some just like to bitch, like a complaining mother-in-law at times. Gets a bit annoying. And this forum isn't too bad, but others where I sometimes lurk, it is comical.

This is nothing but a pure Rams gamble of very rare salary cap funds on what McVay truly believes he needs to make this offense work.

I think is rather foolish to spend this much for a player to ride the IR again all season but that's me. I know now that a very fast deep threat is going drafted n day two of the Rams draft. He may not be a complete wr but he will have the deep speed to scare the back of the secondary to cause one of them to leave Woods or Kupp one on one.

I would have rather invested the $$$ in trying to bring back a pass rush specialist Morgan Fox to marry with Robinson @ that 5 tech post or even better buy some insurance policy on a veteran starting center like Ben Garland.

I really don't think 2.75 is a lot to spend on a low risk/high reward player. If he gets injured - oh well - we spent 2.75 million.

That's really cheap to take a chance on a possible high reward player like Jackson.

If he stays healthy (yes a big if), we definitely have a possible championship offense and a championship defense both at the same time.

Of course - I am still concerned about the center position. I really hope McVay knows what he is doing with that position.
