Like TJ Watt?Don't let guys whose jersey number is in the 90's be in pass coverage.
The Hoecht in coverage project needs to be put to bed in my opinion. But seeing Young blanket Olave did make me chuckle and reconsider the strategy with the right player.Like TJ Watt?
All snarkiness aside… that kind of move is pretty common.. many teams show 5 or six man rushes and will drop linemen back.. just trying to mess with QB’s processing.
Unless you have a truly dominant front.. you gotta try shit.
It's part of the Fangio scheme. And Phillips liked the 3-4 (moved us from 4-3) for that very reason because it's a 5-man surface 3 BL 2 OLBer and when you rush 4 will it be the 3 DL and the SAM? Or the 3 DL and the WILL? and when a 5th is added it can be the all 5, or you can leave the SAM or WILL in coverage and send an ILBer ...Dropping edge players into coverage is nothing new. Phillips did it, so did Staley.
Since the bye here's Hoecht's coverage numbers.
7/13, 53.8 Completion Percentage, 34yds, 63.1% Passer Rating.

It was genius to sign him for the Super Bowl push, was dumbasshit to attempt to resign him, and then again genius for letting him go, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. We will always have that ring.Guessing the Buffalo Bills feel the same way.
Per Pro Football Reference, in 10 games and 211 snaps, Miller has yet to record a sack or a tackle-for-loss.
He does have one tackle and one assisted tackle. To be fair, Miller has three QB Hits and two Hurries.
Von Miller has a $24M cap hit in 2024, with $32.5M of Dead-$ if he is cut pre-June.
