A 3rd round pick they dont want to admit defeat on is my honest guess
Yes, they're trying to salvage that 2018 draft. That whole draft class set us back. Look at the contributions we've had from the list below. The end of this class is barely keeping them afloat smh.

Round 3: Joseph Noteboom
Round 4: Brian Allen
Round 4: John Franklin-Myers
Round 5: Micah Kiser
Round 5: Obo Okoronkwo
Round 6: John Kelly
Round 6: Jamil Demby
Round 6: Sebastian Joseph-Day
Round 6: Trevon Young
Round 7: Travin Howard
Round 7: Justin Lawler

It hasn't backfired and led to us losing games, but having Boom out there to "develop" when Edwards had clearly proven to be a better guard was not smart IMO. The eye test and every OL metric also said so. Now we're down one on interior OL depth when we didn't need to be.

And to me through 3 years Noteboom hasn't shown enough to assume he wins the future LT position. At this point I think Edwards and Evans both are more likely to start at LT when Whit retires. You think after 2 full years of learning and trying to develop at guard and playing badly, he can just slot back over to LT and suddenly becomes a good player? I think Edwards and Evans both are just better football players.

People get so stuck on when players were drafted... like with Fuller beating out Rapp this year. There are a ton of late round players, undrafted players, etc. that end up being much better than higher round picks. Happens all the time. You need to prove it on the field with your play, and through 3 years Noteboom hasn't shown shit except the fact he cant play guard nor stay healthy.

well I was not sold on Rapp being all that. I’m not sold on David Long over Williams or Hill either.

Morgan Fox is playing well also, and holding up & he was going to be a OLB when he got hurt.I’ve been to training camps & form my own opinion.

I’ll stick with Noteboom & what I’ve seen. He is a good offensive lineman, that I think is a better LT than any other postion. That said I think the coaching staff has done a good job with him playing guard.IMO he is developing and any playing time is good for him.He deserved to start.

Is Edwards & Corbett the better guards ? I think they are & hope they settle in.

So no First or Second Rounders, and 8 of the 11 in the 5th round or later, and we have what 5 guys getting playing time? That really isn't bad. Not sure what everyone expected out of that Draft, 5 Starters???

I know we are fans, but we still have to have realistic expectations. Unrealistic expectations are the biggest contributors to people being unhappy.

Kiser, Howard, Noteboom, SJD were all projected to be starters for this team before injury. Allen and OBO backups. All things considered that’s hardly a failed draft.

I really like Edwards, seems to be athletic ENOUGH for what Kromer/McVay want in a guard and our line played better overall with him in the game. Much more physical than Noteboom...

It's a terrible idea to have Noteboom as a starting interior lineman, dude is NOT GOOD. Best case scenario, Edwards finishes out the year at G and Noteboom can get healthy and train exclusively at LT behind Whit so he can COMPETE with others (Evans, rookie, FAs, etc...) for LT when Whit retires...

Frequently misses blocking assignments, can't hold a block long enough, takes bad angles blocking in space, is weak and gets pushed backwards when in pass pro. You keep saying Noteboom is good from what you see and think he'll be a good OLT, but all of his weaknesses don't translate to being good at any Online position, because he's a not a good blocker. OLTs still have to block. They do more than move sideways.

If you count round 1 and 2 as landing Goff, and Kiser maintains his current trajectory then they may get two long-term starters out of it. So its a good draft but mainly due to factoring in landing a franchise QB.

So far the rest have some starters but aren't exactly what I'd call good players that they need to keep. They are roster filler mostly. Obo hasn't stepped up. Allen was terrible. Noteboom has never looked good and his backup is already outplaying him. Demby was a dud. Howard suddenly doesn't seem to have a position on the team anymore, unless he's moved back to safety or can unseat Young, who has played good in limited time. I guess its expected in a weak draft class overall and then the GM keeps moving back to collect 6th round picks. I would feel better about it if one of the first three picks were looking like a long-term starter. But if Kiser ends up being another London Fletcher, I'd say between he and Goff its a decent draft. But give me one more keeper and I'd bump it to good.

I have high hopes for these three -Obo Okoronkwo - Travin Howard - Micah Kiser). Sebastian Joseph-Day TBD - Brian Allen TBD - Joseph Noteboom TBD

Study some more. He still struggles to find blocks on the move and in space. He whiffs often. Can’t hold blocks long and often gets pushed back.
I hope they keep Edwards in the rest of the season.

Hey Elmgrovegnome, was watching the Henderson highlight clip from last week.
That screen they run to Henderson, watched it a couple times and noticed Notebloom
running in the open field. It was HORRENDOUS. Hell Blyth got out in front quicker than
Notebloom. He looked completely lost. When he finally does start running he is out of control
No breakdown on his attempted block down field. Not a fan.

He is not good in space at all. It was the same thing last year. I couldn't believe they were starting him again this season.
