How many times have we seen guys step in and make us eat crow?

How many times have these players proven that Snead and McVay don't keep guys around for no reason?

This week, Bobby Evans is going to be asked to do just enough to not be the reason we lose. He doesn't have to win the game or even every snap... he just has to know his assignment and give his best.

It's not Evans who has to find a way to make it work. That's on McVay and Stafford.

Somehow I'd still feel more comfortable if it was Aboushi or even Chandler Brewer.
Evans is working on his 'contract' year after all, so maybe he surprises ...

They have.
I’m actually encouraged about the line, overall. Jackson is their 5th guard and he’s done well.
I’m just hoping Evans can survive.
But now the Rams luck with Oline injuries seems to be running out. Hopefully neither tackle goes down.

And I agree that Jackson has played well at guard. Sheltons second week at Center was a bit more uneven than his first.

Maybe it’s possible with Evans, Shelton, Jackson and Havenstein, that the run game takes off. I’d be loving that. Run it down the 49ers throats.
This is they way the Rams should go and stick with the run. Evans does have that ability and it's time to start rooting for Evans and to discount his history for the present.

Let's Go Bobby, this is your time to shine and lead Henderson & Akers to paydirt.

Run blocking's kind of what we've needed all along. Nothing will protect Staff more than that.

The problem for the Rams is the five of them playing together. We already had a change at Center, and he can handle himself but from the comms perspective you have him plus a new element at RG in Jackson and now a new element in Evans. So I imagine the way ahead for the 9ers is to play A & B gap games pre-snap and then have one of them come as an extra rusher to take advantage of the confusion.

Stafford is going to need to be dishing that ball very quickly. Particularly early on as the teams settle into the flow of the game.

Okay Bobby Evans time to prove you da man!

More play action could help

If they can actually run the ball. Yes. But I am not confident about this line doing anything in this game. Hope they play well but I have to admit I am prepared for the worst.

Bobby Evans is lineman #9 on this team. Perspective.

Personally I would move Jackson to LG & go with Oday at RG, but I guess Kevin Carberry & Nick Jones have some confidence in Evans.
Oday healthy and with a full training camp with Rams? Sure!
He's been with the team 3 weeks and we have no idea what kind of real physical condition he's in.

3 weeks should be fine, it's not like he's playing Center. He also has 2 years of experience playing with Stafford in Detroit.
I can't speak to his physical condition, but he's had since game 5 of last year to recover from his injury.
I don't know how many career games Aboushi played at LG as most of his experience has come at RG, so this could be holding him back, and the Rams may be somewhat reluctant to move Jackson again. jmo.

The prob with the new guys is the comms. Knowing all the protection calls for the different situations. I think that is probably why Evans will go. He should at least know wtf he's doing out there.

It's still going to be chaos on some snaps. And if Evans shits the bed then that will open the door for the others.

I don't think playing with Stafford means nearly as much as playing the last four years with the guys on the current line and in the system.
If Oday had been an all pro or something? Sure.. but he was a journeyman who won a starting job on a pretty mediocre line last year.
And.. yeah, I wouldn't make Jackson move.. that side of the line is working now.

I've been wrong plenty.. but I just don't see Evans getting passed, yet, by Oday.
