No football player will ever be ranked higher than ED2105 by me.

I have never seen a RB do the things that Eric did on the field. It was like he was from another planet.

He'll always be my favorite player. The year he ran for 2105... I kept a notebook were I would write down his rushing yards after every game. Back in those days you had to wait until Monday or Tuesday for the stats to be listed in the newspapers. I'd buy the Orlando Sentinel, the Daytona Beach News Journal, and the USA Today (which I think came out on Tuesdays if I remember correctly). I wanted to get my numbers right in my spiral notebook hahaha,,, so I had to check multiple sources.

I think my Mom still has that notebook. It was like my bible. LOL

The only Ram jersey I wear is Eric's.

You have Jamie Duncan pajamas, don't lie!!!

That's as easy as choosing Faulk give me that girl on the left... Guaranteed to have 15 little kiddos!

Btw it's amazing how some defend Dickerson for not having anybody to play with but are the same ones who gripe at Jackson and will pound him into the ground with 100 criticisms.
I loved Jackson. ED was better but I'd agree that Jackson had even less help. Neither had a team with much offense besides them.

All around takes Sweetness out of the conversation IMO because he wasn't very much of a pass catching threat.

Just running the ball he would be in the mix because of his durability and remarkable consistency.

No sir. Payton was a very good receiving threat. He also averaged more yards from scrimmage per season that Faulk (1636 yards vs Faulk's 1596). Walter could also throw the football and had 8 passing touchdowns in his career. I'd take him over Faulk.

He got those yards running for sure, he was one of the top 3.

But not as a pass catcher.

All around Faulk is pretty hard to top.

Plus. Fuck the Bears.

Jackson had shit for an OL.

ED had an OL that he himself said "Larry Curly or Moe could gain 1,000 behind that line".

Let me be clear.....I am not saying Jackson was better than Dickerson, that would be ridiculous.

Plus. freak the Bears.

He averaged 350 receiving yards a season. He had multiple seasons of over 400 receiving yards. Sure it's not as much as Faulk but he also ran more than Faulk.

Jackson never rushed for 2,000 yards in a season either.
Jackson had a HOF'r blocking for him like Dickerson did but besides that the comparisons stop! How many All Pro's did Jackson really play with or have in his side of the ball. Stahp.

Yeah... Imagine what either could of done with a decent supporting cast? Or a D to somewhat balance the team and get the ball back? Poor dudes! ED on that 89 team probably would of won the SB!

yeah....he had a very bad game...it was a terrible game plan as they were loaded up to stop the run...had Robinson threw it early and often to loosen them up....

but they were scared...it really wasn't as bad of a beatdown as it appears....

so...

we had a chance...kinda Leso_O

 very compelling...

After thinking about it for 2 seconds I chose Dickerson

No slight to Marshall but OJ and ED are the two best backs I've even seen

Had to go ED but it's hard to choose between him and MF. A shout out for Willie Ellison, Wendell Tyler, and Les Josephson just because I'm old and haven't forgotten them.

That's a pretty average number and that's one of the reasons why I would pick Faulk.

What an interesting and fun thread discussion!

It gets tricky trying to select a "best of" when it comes to RB's, no question.

Faulk
Dickerson
Payton
Sanders

All in the HOF, for cryin' out loud. So to say any one of them is the very best gets mighty subjective, to say the least.

Even so, I stand by my earlier statement to Les.

Marshall Faulk was not only the best RB, he was the best football player that I've ever seen.

Truly elite in every single facet of a RB's arsenal. The best of the Best, imo.

Walter played on a team with a zero quarterback, of course he was going to shoulder a larger offensive load. And other than a couple good years from Gault there weren't many receiving threats.

I didn't have too many jerseys when I was a kid, but I did have a #34 bears jersey with PAYTON on back. That said, I'll take Faulk.
