No football player will ever be ranked higher than ED2105 by me.

I have never seen a RB do the things that Eric did on the field. It was like he was from another planet.

He'll always be my favorite player. The year he ran for 2105... I kept a notebook were I would write down his rushing yards after every game. Back in those days you had to wait until Monday or Tuesday for the stats to be listed in the newspapers. I'd buy the Orlando Sentinel, the Daytona Beach News Journal, and the USA Today (which I think came out on Tuesdays if I remember correctly). I wanted to get my numbers right in my spiral notebook hahaha,,, so I had to check multiple sources.

I think my Mom still has that notebook. It was like my bible. LOL

The only Ram jersey I wear is Eric's.

I voted Dickerson cause there was no option for the combined RB legends Gaston Green, Cleveland Gary, and Elvis Peacock

Lawrence McCutcheon also should have a place on this list IMO.

I'm the lone voter for Steven Jackson. I seriously loved him as a Ram. He played his heart out for so many awful teams, only had an aging Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt to help him out, and never complained. I'll always remember him basically taking over the game against the Lions in 2009, the only game that we won that year.

I know that he wasn't as good as ED or Marshall, but I'm still going with him because he had the heart of a lion.

Choosing between Eric Dickerson and Marshall Faulk is like choosing between
df-580617.jpg
That's as easy as choosing Faulk give me that girl on the left... Guaranteed to have 15 little kiddos!

Btw it's amazing how some defend Dickerson for not having anybody to play with but are the same ones who gripe at Jackson and will pound him into the ground with 100 criticisms.

If you look at the total package it's Faulk.

I love ED, he was so much fun to watch, but if I am starting a team and have a choice it's Faulk. His edge in the passing game is really big, and in the Red Zone he was really proficient.

Very true Les.... I will also admit that Faulk, even with his smaller stature was the best pass protecting RB of any I can remember. Faulk was the best all around running back I have ever seen along with Walter. I'm probably a little biased with Dickerson since I was young and you know how impressionable we were as young lads.

I traveled to St. Louis and watched this Faulk run vs the Browns live from 3/4 up in the stands at about the 20 yard line view of the end-zone he scored in. It was surreal to see that in person and a Rams memory I will forever cherish.

Jackson never rushed for 2,000 yards in a season either.

No it can't. I love Marshall Faulk but there was a TON of talent on that offense. Dickerson didn't have near that talent on his offense and carried a much harder burden.

If I was building a team I'd have ED as the starting back and Faulk would be next to him in the shotgun or in the slot.

Not many people remember this BUT

Faulk led the NFL in yards from scrimmage the year the Colts traded him to the Rams AND it was the second highest total of his career.

The 1998 Colts were not exactly stacked, had bupkis for an OL and went 3-13 but Faulk was the shit.

He has several thousand more yards from scrimmage in the same amount of seasons and averaged over 5 per tote 3 times.

Again, I love ED what a great pure runner but this is about who do you want in the backfield and IMO that involves 3 different top level skills

Running
Recieving
Pass protection

Faulk was nearly as dangerous as a runner.........I mean it's pretty close.

I'd probably take Faulk over any RB I've ever seen play because of the facets to his game and the fact that no other RB had them all.

I think Marshall Faulk may have been the best football player that I've ever seen, Les.

And I'll be 73 next week, so that's saying something.

I say that with all possible respect to Eric Dickerson, btw. A player that I loved and respected no end.

As an aside, Faulk was far from my favorite as a person. He couldn't hold a candle on his own team to either Warner or Bruce as a person, for example. But that's another topic, entirely.

As a football player, he had no peer, imo.

Happy birthday to you, enjoy that day when it comes and many happy returns!!!

Back when I still lived in CLE (GO CAVS) a radio show host did a lengthy piece on how Faulk was this generations Jim Brown in terms of dominance and game changing ability.

What luck for the Rams to have Warner and Faulk in the backfield. IMO the best combo ever and it didn't last NEARLY long enough.

I think, if we're talking best all around running back, Walter Peyton is the guy. If we're talking best running back of all time it's probably Barry Sanders. I don't think Faulk was better than either of those guys.

Then you go and pick Faulk....
Exactly....

I think some of you guys never watched ED take over a game...all-by-himself....Remember who Faulk played with...
We were dangerous versus the 1985 Bears...all because of ED....
I know. It was a tough call.
Faulk was also one of the greatest ever.

I really never liked this question. It's like someone asking you, which of your kids do you like the best. (Ok. Not quite)

All around takes Sweetness out of the conversation IMO because he wasn't very much of a pass catching threat.

Just running the ball he would be in the mix because of his durability and remarkable consistency.

Wait.......the Rams got shut out and had no O that game. I just peeked to see how ED did.......... 17 carries for 46 yards.

And he fumbled twice.

yeah....he had a very bad game...it was a terrible game plan as they were loaded up to stop the run...had Robinson threw it early and often to loosen them up....

but they were scared...it really wasn't as bad of a beatdown as it appears....

so...

we had a chance...kinda Leso_O
