I've long thought that NFL front offices should be much smarter with their picks, get the benefits of delayed gratification, and take advantage of other teams' inpatience. Especially safe front office personnel like Snead/McVay, Howie Roseman, etc.I was thinking that assuming Stafford looks as good as ever this year, see if you can make another trade where you trade one of this year's one's for a 26' two and a 27' one just like they did in this draft. Keep kicking that extra one down the road until you need it for a QB, yet still getting a two to keep adding players.
If I were them every year I would do a trade down like you propose.
A 1st this year for a 2nd this year plus next year 1st.
Or the Fiske type trade: an early 2nd for a later 2nd plus a 2nd next year.
If teams did that, they could have extra draft capital every year.
