100%.This can’t be under stated.
Green Bay went from
Favre to Rogers to Love, without missing a day.
That’s over 25 years of football without having the setbacks of trying to find a QB.
Other teams can do this as well.
They just choose not to.

All because he ate right and had the best work out regime. That cheating pos who played QB for the cheatriots and tampon won 4 Super Bowls after age 37 I believe.
He was until the game film started piling up on the desks of DC’s across the league.Agreed. And Love isn't all that.
All because he ate right and had the best work out regime.
What was that?Lol. You must be super proud of yourself for..... Saying what no less than 80% of Rams fan have also said, haha.
Exactly. And it gives so much more credence to the brilliant move the Rams front office made snatching Raheem Pourous' first round pick next year. The stars aligned I believe, having what looks to be a great QB year coincide with the Rams drafting and bringing along a young talent to take over in a couple years. Not rushed. Not panicky, or crossing our fingers.Matthew Stafford's head might tell him he could play another 3 years. But, his 37 year old (now) body that has already had multiple injuries could tell him to call it quits earlier.
It doesn't hurt to have his replacement already on the roster for a seamless transition.
It took some teams playing out the string years to find their next franchise QB. And some teams are still looking.
That's probably why they say not to pass up on the opportunity to nab a franchise QB because that opportunity doesn't come that often.
True, there will never be another soul-snatcher #9. But, next year QB class holds more promise than this year did, it seems. As Elmgrovegnome said, the odds of him being as good as Stafford are not good.
Ideally, when a QB is drafted, Jimmy G is still backup, and the young buck takes a rare 3QB roster spot for one year.Matty has 2 years left. He's playing well and we're a good young team.
Honestly in the short term, finding a QB also involves looking at whether or not that QB is good enough to be a #2 immediately over say Jimmy G.
Nobody is rushing Matt out the door, but you have to balance winning now with the long term
I agree, to a large degree. And he is a great advocate of the Rams, Stafford, and McVay.sorry to all the cowherd haters...
he nails it, week after week....
he was on the rams bandwagon last year AND the year before....
go away haters... you don't get it...
go rams
slo
I doubt, for his sake, he goes that route. Guys on a third team always smell like check-chasers, a-la Rodgers, Favre, etc. Hurts the legacyIf in two years Stafford at age 39 still wants to play, he can find another team.
The Rams have seemed to have a good track record at finding QB’swhen needed. I’ll be curious to see how Stetson looks going into his 3rd season as Ram.Need to find 9’s successor in 26 imo. He’s one hit big hit away from uncertainty. Still reeling from his head bouncing off the turf at Detroit in the playoff game. He doesn’t have many more of those type of hits in him where he’ll overcome that level of punishment.
I could not agree with this more. Some VERY short term thinking from some here who would rather another potential superbowl run with a 38/39yo QB versus potentially shoring up the position for the long term. I just don't understand the logic. If the opportunity to take a very good to great qb prospect arises next year because of the talent and our draft resources, you take it. He can sit a year. If in two years Stafford at age 39 still wants to play, he can find another team. You don’t flippantly discard the opportunity to fill the most important position in sports for 15 years with greatness to hang on to the hope of a massive statistical outlier for 1-2 more years.
He has not always been pro Rams. You should have listened to him during the Fisher era.No doubt, I was merely just stating how Cowherd does take both sides on things. Overall I do like him and feel he's always been Pro-Rams
Why do you see this as an either/or? Not sure who you are pointing to, with the shot-term thinking, but my perspective is this: Go on a Superbowl run with our Hall of Fame quality bad-ass soul-snatchin' QB WHILE we eventually, when the right guys comes along, in a good QB year draft, and train his replacement. Seems like that's what most guys are advocating here. Don't you?I could not agree with this more. That's exactly what I'm advocating also. I have seen it suggested several times however that we should trade a first at the deadline if we're close, or use the additional first on impact players to support the end of Stafford's window. That would be a disgraceful misuse of resources in my view. Why do you see this as an either/or? Cant hold that against him, it was hard to be pro-Rams back then even as a die hard Rams fanYou should have listened to him during the Fisher era.
The "Hurry, draft Stafford's replacement!!" panic has been going on to an increasing degree since the Rams won the Super Bowl. And I have been shaking my head to the chicken little tune.
The guy is still at the top of his game and potentially has 3 more good years. Stop it, already.
Cowherd is sometimes a blowhard, but here he really nails it.

This is a bit of a devil's advocate argument given that I'm not against taking a QB before you need one, but is Green Bay a great example? This can’t be under stated.
