i just heard Eric Dickerson on the herd. Cowherd is picking the Bears to “upset” the Rams. He calls it an upset but then goes on to tell Dickerson the Rams looked “soft”. Soft? How is it an upset if the team is soft, an 11-1 team that looks soft? He then said he thought everyone was going a little overboard with the hot young coach. So now Mcvay is overrated?

It’s seems to me that there is a “anti-Ram pro-Saint” narrative within the media. Does anyone else see it this way. Or am I just being a sensative fan?

The media or mediots would get little to no viewers if they just told it like it is. They need to make controversial statements in order to get people to watch or read what they have to say. If they all said that the Rams are the best team in the NFL, only Rams fans would watch or read them. By going against the obvious, they get the fans of the other 31 teams to watch or read them.

Cowherd falls in love with his self created narratives regardless of reality.

He doesn't like the Browns rookie QB for the same reason even though he's heads and tails better than the rest of his class.

No, I don't see it that way. For about the last 15 seasons the Rams were barely mentioned by the media and now that the team is at the top of the heap, we're getting lots of attention both positive and negative. There is no such thing as bad publicity. I'm just glad we're finally being noticed.

The media loves building someone up(the Rams as Dream Team for example) so they can knock them down. It gives them higher ratings and clicks. Besides, lots of talking heads are on the Rams bandwagon now. As a Rams fan I'm having a great time watching and listening no matter their point of view. It would be boring if everyone agreed.

I've been listening to snippets of Cowherd every week. Him being in LA, he discussed the Rams more than other teams.

From 0-0 to 8-0, Cowherd was all over the Rams.

Then that loss to the Saints happened, and since then he's had the Rams below teams with multiple losses. While I'm fine with sort of ignoring the wins over the Chargers and Vikings because of how early in the year they were (and I think those two teams are better now than they were then) - our wins against Seattle look impressive. Problem is, IMO he doesn't actually watch Rams games every week and so he sees that second Seattle game the same as the first. For me, I never thought we would lose to Seattle the 2nd game, but the 1st I did for a few minutes in there.

He doesn't like how our defense gives up so many big plays and uses that to put us below other teams.

The reality is we have the most impressive collection of wins coupled with a completely excusable loss - we're the only team in the NFL that can say that, and obviously we have the best record.

As @FrantikRam said he was on the Rams early but backed off when we lost to the Saints and I think has gone against us every week since then. He’s also been very high on the Chargers all year.

This is the last game during the reg season where the Rams can really move the needle.
If we lose, the heads like Cowherd call us soft and not a legit SB contender.
If we win but its ugly or even sort of close, no change in public perception at all. The needle stays put.
If we go into their home and beat the ever loving ish out of them, the narrative shifts back to the Rams at the top of the power rankings as if this win is the only thing validating our record.

Thanks for the input. You make great points. It just frustrates me when it comes to the talking heads. At the end of the day, power rankings and media opinion doesn’t really matter. HORNSUP!

He might be right who knows. The Saints were the better team in nawlins. Will they be better in the playoffs when we have Talib?

I think the Rams will take them but again who knows. Rams certainly deserve the flak they have gotten due to their defense. It is a unit with multiple roster flaws that might end up getting them eliminated in the playoffs.

But anyway F him. Who cares what he thinks.

Really? I seem to remember him praising Goff, Gurley, McVay, etc earlier in the season. It's like he's done a 180.
The last 6 weeks he's been picking against us saying we're going to drop a game or two. He's been wrong. Yes he praises our leaders on Offense but he also does the typical media BS playing the other side of the coin.

I caught a bit of this bloke when I was out there on holiday last week. He was laying into Aaron Rodgers. Seemed to love the sound of his voice and was trying too hard to be controversial. I switched it off.

Understood. Except on rare occasions I only watch the video clips here at ROD and when I'm searching for something to post. It's a lot more peaceful that way. :)

LOL Dickerson is a shit stirring talking head now.

He says what he has to so he can stay relevant in his mind.

He’s also been very high on the Chargers all year.

There's your AFC dark horse right there.

Also, look at his power rankings. He has us as 4th lol... Now tell me that again.

I don't even know if it will honestly. So many people have bet their reputations on the Rams being the dream team 2.0 failure that even if they win 45-3 or something people will still come up with an excuse.

All American sport talkng heads are like that. I prefer the self aware/troll ones like Skip Bayless. He knows he's full of shit. Cowherd I think believes his own shit lol.

Cowherd is a bit like Piers Morgan.

I could be wrong but I thought earlier in the year I watched a little of one of his shows and he was all over the Rams' jock...I seldom watch him, but not because he's any different than the others..I don't. except once every 6th blue moon, watch Foolio/Simms, Golic and whoever or Rich Eisen, Dan Patrick, etc...And I suppose it goes without saying that I would take some Hari Kari training if I ever watched Skip Bayless again...I would then be of no value to society..

I can enjoy Cowherd when he isn't speculating, but that's true for me about any talking head.

I like hearing opinions and thoughts about performances, players and all that. But when the guessing about shit starts I lose interest.
