You are kidding, right? Gay was Phenomenal last year.

Ditto. Gay was much more accurate than GZ last year.

Loved GZ when he was here, but I think we got his best years and cut bait at the right time. If he still had what he had here, Dallas wouldn't be letting him go.

Matt Gay was like a comfort blanket to me this year. He hits kicks square and down the middle. Very little movement. Nails.

For those worried about the one FG Gay missed in TB, watch the game winner again. He had a sliver to kick that through. The dickhead for the Bucs got a clear run off the right side and damn near got home. That kick had to be damn near perfect. Jalen Ramseys response was perfect. GAY!!! GAAAAYYYYY!!!!!

I think all rams fans were at that moment.

Gay is younger and better than Zuerlein. I don't see why people want GZ back. No offense meant to the guy; he was a great Ram, but I couldn't justify seeing him back instead of the guy we have right now.

That range was GZ's weak spot too. Gay has been good from beyond that distance all season. I thought they mentioned Gay having an injury or something the game he missed that 47 yarder.

Greg Z was awesome when we had him but he seems to have backslid a bit. Matt Gay missed a 47 yarder (short) against the Bucs but I had heard that he had some kind of injury. I think he said he kind of scraped the ground on that kick and that's why it ended up short. But Matt Gay was money this past season.

I'd take him over Gay if the price is right. 47 yarder missed almost cost us a super bowl.

I think the bigger takeaway here is that the Rams made the right choice when they moved on.

GZ gave me heartburn every time he kicked. TOO MUCH SPIN.

Gay, on the other hand, kicks it straight, and I love Gay being straight.

If Gay signs with TB or Miami, will announcers be able to say his name? Hmm...
:laugh4:

Great avatar btw every time I see that thing I smile. :thumbsup1:

Gay made the pro bowl This year.

GZ did not by a pretty good amount.

What are we talking about here?

There is no world today where we'd take GZ over Matt Gay. GZ had his day and was great but you're straight out of your mind if you think GZ is an upgrade right now.

Wasn't he just short on that one? I too, was surprised he came up short. He's made longer kicks.
Shit happens.
I was also somewhat surprised when management let go of GZ. He was nails in his day.
But then those knuckle heads in management proved that they're the professionals ....... again. :bullseye: :beer2:

Well, technically it was Johnny Hekker. After Sam Sloman had failed and McVay suggested bringing in Kai Forbath, who lasted one game and then got hurt, it was Hekker that suggested bringing in Matt Gay because Ginger's stick together....Seriously Hekker suggested Gay because of how good he was at Utah and at the time, Gay was on the Colts practice squad, so thankfully the knuckle heads in management listened to Johnny Hekker.

I think there's just one poster on this two-page thread who preferred Zuerlein over Gay.
Yes and what I said was if the price was right. I also said I was good with GZ walking when the money got big.

Gay is a restricted FA so let's see what that money looks like. Yes, I was a big GZ fan from day one and I have certainly let the missed Gay 47 yarder creep into the concerned part of my mine.
If the missed 47 yarder was due to injury then I would lean toward Gay. I know I was concerned with yardage in the last 2 games after the miss at Tampa.
Always felt 47 yard line was the mark for GZ and with our offense that's doable every drive.
I won't walk it back and will take the wrath from everyone here and hope we have a kicking game that we never have to worry about for a while.
