Blues first season was '67-'68. Nixon administration began in '69. FWIW

True, however, he won the election in 1968, but fair enough...I was giving the Blues the benefit of the doubt, but I guess since the Johnson administration would be more accurate.

Not easy to be a sports fan in St Louis, glad they got a championship.

I'm really happy for Blues fans!

When I used to go to St. Louis for Ram games, we would go to Blues games on Saturday, the night before. Great fans and a great atmosphere.

I saw Gretzky play for the Blues after he was traded.

Now, I think that I get the reference to being a sports fan in St. Louis and it not being easy, but the St. Louis Cardinals have a winning tradition in baseball, second only to the Yankees.

11 time World Series Champions.

I'm really happy for my buddy Dan in St. Louis and can't wait to buy him a beer!

It was a fun run, ending up with an impressive cup win last night.
Tonight the players are in a local bar, showing off the cup with fans.
Parade on Saturday, that is going to be a once in a lifetime event, first Stanley cup parade in the history of STL.

The last month has been a blast.

Lets go Blues.

In.

Before those whack job mods move the thread.

Such a great win for the city. So happy today. The fifth city now with NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA championships to its name? New York, Boston, LA, and Philly the others? Think I saw that statistic last night. Still a great sports town.

New York, Boston, Chicago, LA, Detroit, Philly, DC and St. Louis.

Did a little research, this is longest time with not a single title. Same team in same city. Not longest drought if team has won a title before or if team moved.
As far as i can tell the list of championship futility looks like this at the top....

1) Minnesota Vikings, 58 years
2) Phoenix Suns, 51 years
3) Texas Rangers, 47 years

Well, Nixon was beating Hubert Humphrey and George Wallace like a drum, it may have seemed like Nixon was Prez already when he won it Nov.8, 1968.

This is besides the point but in your opinion how did you and people you know view the Nixon-Watergate scandal? Was it a big deal or like meh whatever type of thing?

What is beside the point? The point I was making was that Nixon campaigned throughout 1968, and the Blues first season was the 1967-68 season, and so someone might be excused in thinking it was the same year.

The Watergate break-in was a different election of incumbent Nixon vs McGovern in 1972. As for the scandal, politics is a dirty business and I believe both sides have never been innocent in using dirty tricks and Nixon got caught trying to cover it up. This is politics, so that is all I will say about it.

PS: Except for this, when the hearings were on television, I thought "Watergate" was some excellent waterpark(I was 8 yrs old at the time). I never got why everyone was serious about a place that was obviously supposed to be fun? lol

Two things about Watergate, however, I was only six years of age in the Summer of 73, but remember watching the hearings with my Grandfather up at camp, so my parents knew then something wasn't right....Anyway, the two points everyone must take away from Watergate:

  1. It was a big deal, nothing like this had ever happened in American History and showcased a President that was so paranoid, he would stop at nothing.
  2. Watergate is more prevalent then a New York Knicks Title and every New York Knick fan I run into I make sure they understand that.

Huh, saw the thread title and wondered what it had to do with the NFL :)

If we're going to discuss Watergate, everybody first needs to see the ultimate docudrama about it
