Toughest in the NFL considering logistics, plus we get 4 teams after their byes.

Our schedule this year is a lot like our young roster. Even if everything goes better than expected, it's still going to be a really tough schedule. Even if we hit on 5 picks and a stud player emerges from a Les Snead migraine with his helmet on.... it's still going to be a really tough season.

I think we have a chance to steal a game or two we shouldn't and with a bigger, better, stronger O-line holding up in front of a healthy Stafford, I think playoffs are a possibility. But even IF the O-line is better and QB1 stays healthy, just finishing above .500 will still be a really tough task.

I see a lot of potential and a lot of really promising young guys who will go through a meat grinder this season. Hopefully by next season we will talk about "The Big 6" or "Big 7"...

I think that’s where my head is at. At least when thinking about the first couple of games and goals.

The NFL is whack these days. Teams get on streaks. I won’t count us out at 0-2 or even 0-3. Look at Detroit last year. I just want to see some good football and see how it adds up in the end.

Schedule looks tough, thats for sure.

Going in, I see this team looking a lot like the lions last year. The lions came up short though because they dropped several winnable games the first 2 months. Just think—if they would not have collapsed or got a decent defensive effort just once in those first 8 games…

We just GOTTA steal an early win or two.

I think the problem for me is they won't look much better on game days. I Just don't see a switch being turned on in the 1st or any reg season game this year. even with our core players it's not enough. go rams.

I want Tyler Johnson over Robinson. I'm sorry, I just feel like he's a better all-around receiver.
The miscommunications yesterday were problematic. Johnson has done a nice job of getting open, but he can't run the wrong route when it matters.

As for the team, people seem to be forgetting the difference Aaron Donald makes when he takes the field. Yes, there are some concerns with all the youth and unproven guys on D, but we'll see what happens once we have people game-planning for real and our defensive starters on the field. JJIII look good yesterday, which was a very positive sign imo. The biggest concern I have is with Bobby Brown at NT. He has to be reliable in playing his gap, and thus far, he's had some big mistakes in the preseason on that front.

It's the preseason. People need to chill. We'll see what this team is made up once the real games start.

Tyler Johnson is the guy I remember seeing Tom Brady bitching at a lot when he was in Tampa. He also jumped offsides last week on a 4th & 1. Makes me think his issue might be more between the ears as to why he doesn't seem to make it big. He has ability, but something is missing.

He was the one guy that Stetson had a huge communication gap on a few plays that I recall.

If what you say is true - I don't want him on the team no matter how talented he is.

Making mistakes like he did will kill a team

Yeah, I don't know what the cause of the miscommunication was on the two routes, but those mistakes are killers. We have to be able to trust Johnson. Hopefully, it's just a one-time issue because he'd be a great #4 or #5 WR if he can play special teams.

For some context on the INT, Bennett did say he was at fault. Johnson ran the right route. Jourdan explains it further ..

My major concern with this team is the following

NT - I am just not sure Bobby Brown can get the job done and we have no one behind him - Turner needs to be Donalds back-up for now

Depth at ILB - If Jones goes down - we are screwed

Edge - Not sure if Young or Hoecht can play those two positions - and depth? (what depth - they are not impressing me at the moment) - however, I do like VanValkanburg as a possible run stopping edge

I guess Stetson was the one completely at fault on the interception

I concur with everything here, in fact, I am counting on the Rams picking up another NT to spell Brown utilizing Turner on passing downs & behind Donald. Turner much to small to be counted to play NT on an every down basis.

Agree Ernest Jones needs to stay healthy as they really don't have anyone behind him. Square & Anyalebechi have shown some good things in preseason, but Hummel reminds me of Reeder & Rozeboom struggles in drop coverage. Edge is the main issue on this team as if they cannot generate a pass rush, they are dead. I am still hoping for a Melvin Ingram signing because I believe he can not only offer some sizzle on the outside, but also mentor the likes of Young, Hampton & Mathis.

Melvin Ingram would be a big help even if they had to reduce the number of his plays each game

And yeah - I would really like to sign ole NT to either back-up Brown or even start in place of Brown

Anyone out there?

We need to be patient because there will be some players cut to save against the cap. Will the Rams produce a master class in building a roster supplemented by some vet minimum contacts? Teams are imitating while we are innovating?

  1. Matt Ioannidis (Rams should sign him today)
  2. Akiem Hicks
  3. Elijah Garcia (If Broncos cut him).
Also maybe Carlos Dunlap over Ingram, but please sign a couple please.

Seahawks, 49ers, Bengals, Colts, Eagles is a brutal first five games for this young defense and STs. I doubt we see much improvement over the first five weeks.
Colts don’t fit the description of brutal. Not taking them lightly but they don’t exactly have Peyton Manning at QB and their running back is not happy with his contract. They are coming off a 4 win season in 2022. The other four teams were all playoff teams.

I will be patient until the day before the first day

No pick-ups by then to help out at least 1 of these 3 areas and I will be extremely disappointed.

Unless the 'pick-ups' are paid close to the veteran minimum, you may want to prepare for disappointment.

I really hope I am wrong but I feel like the Rams have been consistent with their 2023 Strategy.

They will coach and play hard, and try to win every game. However, they will do it with a weaker roster because they will not spend. Not signing Greg Gaines is a perfect example. Gaines did not sign long-term, or for big-$; and would clearly have been the Rams' 2nd best D-Lineman (my opinion); and he should be entering his prime years.

The Rams were the last team in the NFL to sign a free agent from another roster; and they have signed seven such players (Rypien, Michel, the two Johnsons, Witherspoon, Freeman and Robinson). All were signed after the Draft; and all seven are at or near the veteran minimum.
