Yeah the Shitters will run that outside-in stunt to Joe over and over. I am sure the Rams will prep him hard for it but even with that he's gonna need to keep his feet under him because when it's Bosa running it he arrives with movement and power.

But on the plus side if Joe at RG is our weakest link... We are in a good spot. And keeping balance with at least calling run plays should help with that. Stunts can create big holes in the run game so I'd have a couple outside hitters ready for Williams to use on third down. Maybe even run them as draws depending on how quickly they're getting upfield.
I expect Bosa to have a field day. Havenstein already struggles with Bosa. So I doubt having Noteboom next to him is going to be a great aid. Kyren Williams is a bit on the small side to help much against Bosa too. If they run the twist nobody here will have to rewatch the game a second time just to focus on Joe. I hope McVay is prepared for that outcome and not overconfident in the right side of his Oline. I don’t want a dirty 9er trying to injure our QB. If that happens the way I envision, then once again, bad Oline play will be the undoing of another season.

On a brighter side, TJ Watt was abusing the 49ers ORT. Young was used in both sides of the line. I’d like to see what he can do against Colton McKivitz. I’d even put AD over him a few times.

I rewatched the game this morning carefully rewinding every snap about 15-20 times so I could see how each Olineman did. Here is what I saw, for what it is worth.

Jackson - Overall really solid, held his own. Let’s see how he does vs the Bosa’s of the world. He definitely has the feet and technique to play the position.

Avila- multiple pro bowls in his future. He is quick and powerful and uses excellent technique. Needs a few games to refine things. The speed of the NFL linebackers will take a minute for him to adjust to when they try to sneak through his zone. Our best lineman.

Shelton - I was highly impressed. He shows excellent quickness and awareness in pass pro. A bit better than Allen in my opinion.

Noteboom - decent pass protector. I saw him get knocked off balance at least 3 times but he didn’t give up the pressure those times. It just looked bad because the others don’t lose their balance like that. He also cannot lock on with his hands in run blocking. He can get the initial block and push but then gets shedded rather quickly. This don’t happen with Avila. He is quick in pass pro for a guard but lost his man a few times which created pressure. Overall he is going to be solid in my book. Just gets jolted a little much and will give up some pressure at times. I’ve seen worse.

Havenstein - #10 of Seattle got him two times. Once on a pure speed rush and then the other with a juke to get Havenstein leaning then speed rushing the other side of Rob. Otherwise Havenstein looked real quick to me compared to other seasons. He definitely had mastered his ability to protect the edge by getting back quickly and using his arm. Top speed can beat him at times otherwise he is very solid. His run blocking is always great by the way.

Overall the group work great together passing off rushers and double teaming.

After the SF game we will know more.

Nice take thx. And will add that if they can string some games together they might gel into a real nice unit. I am very encouraged and that is even with the expectation that there's gonna be some ugly vs SF's front.

I really hope Boom isn't just out there because of his salary. Did Anchrum really lose that ORG battle based in performance??

Edit: @TexasRam post makes me feel a bit better about how his game went. I have not had a chance to watch it yet myself.

No doubt.

Also I don't want to get too crazy here riding the high from that huge win away vs a divisional rival or anything, but I keep wondering if this secondary can make that young QB hold the ball. Do that and he might look a whole lot different than that cool and composed dude easily hooking up with early reads.

Praying we can at least slow that run game of theirs and if so we might have a chance vs these bastids.

You mother fuckers!

Enjoy the damned win!

Quit dooming next week for crying out loud!

We won when most of this board had us losing in spite of their score predictions most people here had us a 5 win team and starting off 1-4 and that win was against the shitters in Indy.

Please enjoy a fucking win in a league where it's so hard to do.

Rant over for now

I noticed how well they played together and in sync. That’s got to be Windell. Looked like they’ve been playing together for a long time.

Also it was revolutionary to not see our C get pushed back into the QB—I’m like wow, that really makes a colossal difference in pocket formation.

Lastly, Boom looked ok the plays I watched him, with the exception of whiffing badly when pulling for blocks, which is what we’ve seen from him historically.

I agree. I love this forum and the posters but some of the posters gotta ride the wave a bit better. We are NOT coaches. We are NOT scouts. We are fans who love the Rams. I respect the takes (except when it crosses over to obsessive nauseum) but I’d like to see us stay a little bit more in our lanes.

Two things.

1. Boom had a better 2nd half than his 1st, by far. The snaps gave him confidence and steepened his learning curve.

2. Don’t be surprised if Dotson is named starter at RG fairly soon. Just a feeling.

First your two points kind of contradict themselves just my opinion.

Second listen to McVay in the coaches show and I think you might talk yourself out of #2.

Man.. if this is who Jackson and Avila are.. the Rams have absolutely scored. A starting LT who was a UDFA? And he's good????

Kudos to Noteboom.. better than expected and showed some nice aggression out there.

The Seahawks had 45 sacks last year.. the didn't get a single sack yesterday and barely touched Stafford. If this isn't a mirage, the offense is going to have a very good year.

What about Shelton getting the start ? Do you know who the 48 were? -Anybody ? Who Sat ?

Where was your prediction of the starting lineup ?

In training camp it was a tough call with Noteboom out & no INFO from sports writers?

We got a tough test in week 2 and this gane will definitely be a good indicator of where we are as a team. With that said, lets beat those bastards ass.

Yeah maybe the staff needs to do like Bobby Bouche and have Boom visualize his blocking targets as donuts or something.

Dotson was inconsistent as a starter. So gonna disagree on this one 43. I doubt he's in the mix for the job barring injuries.

I don’t see a contradiction.

Both statements can be simultaneously true.

As to Dotson starting? Just speculation on my part. But surely they didn’t trade for him and his salary if they were fully satisfied with their other OG options…

Wait until you get a load of this... they did, they traded for a backup cause McVay got spooked about oline depth and the guy didn't want to coach this season if the oline fell apart.

Take what you want from it. I put in the effort to watch the lines after every game. Ive been doing it since 2005 and I just say what I saw. Can Joe get better? Maybe, but we've seen the same weaknesses since he's been here, so I doubt he suddenly puts it together. I'm sure he's a nice guy and I don't have anything personally against him. I worry that hrs going to get Stafford injured and that he is out there because of his contract. I hope I'm wrong because if he's not, then what is behind him on the depth chart is worse and they are stuck starting him.

Imagine if we beat the Niners. All the debbie downers, including me, would jump on the Super Bowl bandwagon lol.
