McDaniel is a smart dude, he is a Yale grad and was good as a coord but he certainly isn't cutting it as an HC

Some guys are just not leaders. I have worked with some smart engineers who can run projects or a portion of a project, but then when they become managers of people and or large programs, they are awful at it, a fish out of water. Probably the same thing with coaching.

100% agree, I have seen the same, higher ups shoe horn a highly educated intellegent person into a leadership/management role and it hurts both the promoted person and the team.
Leadership is it's own quality and skill set.

Yep. Seen it many times. It’s got to be similar in most occupations.

I'm shocked he wasn't fired during the game today. He's toast. Carroll should head back to retirement. Why TF did he want to come back to a complete rebuild without the QB in hand already?

Miami had made 1 playoff appearance in 14 years before McDaniel became coach. He made playoffs in his first 2 seasons and barely missed out last year (mostly due to them having no backup qb when Tua was out)
Id gladly take him as an assistant to stick it to the 9ers if he gets axed

As much as I think McD is a great coord. There isn’t room for anymore Capris wearing coaches here in LA. Besides he will be rejoined with Shanny and then the 9ers will be a bigger pain in the ass again

Yep. When you're all laid back and the friend type coach as a genius OC you can get away with it as long as the offense is producing. But running the entire org, setting the tone with that laid back bullshit just creates a lazy workplace. Can't be the buddy type leader past a certain responsibility level.

Sure would like to see him not end up back in SF though. Rams should hire him as waterboy.

It just shows you how disfunctional some offices are. Chris Grier has managed to draft bust after bust, hire adam gase, hire brian flores then fire him while he had a winning record.. mostly over the QB.. which flores was obviously right about. Then he hired mcdaniel and mcdaniel gets no roster influence.. they've managed to surround an incredibly injured, short QB with one of the worst offensive lines in football.. They are a mess. Yet Chris Grier is already going to head the search for yet another head coach. No one in there right mind should take that job.

BTW Grier has been a Higher up in the dolphins front office since being named head of scouting in 2007. 18 years of complete garbage rosters.. yet somehow mcdaniel gets all of the blame. Just like Flores before him.. and Just like the next head coach they hire.

Worst offensive line and brings in QB's that offer no competition for Tua. Hoping Ewers gets the nod, Tua is so far gone
