Not because of Cable and the Raiders’ history — I don’t care about that

It was a rocky tenure for Cable in Oakland, starting with an alleged assault that left former Raiders employee Randy Hanson with a broken jaw. Cable also was reportedly accused of assaulting a pair of women who claimed that Cable assaulted them during past relationships with him.

I'm astounded women went out with him, but My God I will never understand how a man can ever put his hands (in a violent way) on a woman...Gutless.

Alcohol, drugs, being brought up in an environment where violence against women is modeled. No excuses but you asked. What puzzles me is with the current outcry by women against this type of behavior how can Gruden or any HC/GM hire a guy like Tom Cable.

The Bears also announced they hired Mike Furrey as wide receivers coach.

Awesome, great hire there for the Bears IMO. Always respected the F out of Furrey, gotta think he will do well under Nagy, who seems to have a good feel for quality hires on his staff.

Looking at the Panthers' hire of Norv, he is a quality addition but I have to wonder whether he will get along with Cam Newton. And whether under a defensive coach he'll lose his mind, like he did at Minnesota lol.

Seahawks now expected to hire former Colts' QB coach Brian Schottenheimer as their offensive coordinator, per league source.

Idk how to do the tweet stuff.

If the Seahawks offense is at least productive, that nail in the coffin is going to shatter that coffin for how terrible Fisher and Rex Ryan are with managing an offensive staff.

EDIT: Love your avatar btw

The Bills have reached into the college ranks for their new offensive coordinator.

Brian Daboll, who just won the national championship as the offensive coordinator at Alabama, has been named the offensive coordinator of the Bills.

That’s a surprise move, as Daboll hadn’t been reported as a candidate and wasn’t known to be looking to leave Alabama. He had only been with the Crimson Tide for one year, having previously worked as tight ends coach for the Patriots.

In all, the 42-year-old Daboll worked for Bill Belichick in New England for 11 seasons, including all five of their Super Bowl-winning seasons.

Going to Buffalo will be a homecoming for Daboll, who went to both high school and college in Western New York. He has previously been offensive coordinator of the Browns, Dolphins and Chiefs, and now he has a big job for a Bills team that needs to identify its starting quarterback and then have the offense build from there.

“Moving forward” now has a tangible meaning.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Titans have offered head coach Mike Mularkey a contract extension in the wake of this year’s playoff run.

After their comeback win over the Chiefs, owner Amy Adams Strunk issued a vague statement saying Mularkey was the coach “moving forward,” but that was before they were manhandled by the Patriots last night.

Mularkey was under contract through 2018 as part of the deal he got after General Manager Jon Robinson was hired.

After a 2-7 mark as interim coach in 2015 after Ken Whisenhunt was fired, he responded with a pair of 9-7 seasons. Now, he has a bit more security.

Titans fans talking about a new head coach purgatory after getting rid of Fisher that one playoff win will keep MM around for a while.

NFL coaching carousel: Josh McDaniels a virtual lock to be named Colts

Josh McDaniels is a virtual lock be the next coach of the Indianapolis Colts, according to sources.

The Colts were the first team to interview McDaniels during this turn of the coaching carousel, and despite the Titans becoming a surprise entry into the coaching market on Monday, the Patriots offensive coordinator will take the reins in Indianapolis once New England's playoff run is over.

This will be the second head-coaching opportunity for McDaniels, 41, who went 11-17 as Broncos coach in 2009-10. After a year with the Rams as offensive coordinator following that stint in Denver, McDaniels rejoined the Patriots in 2012 and has led an offense that has finished in the top four in points scored for each of the last six seasons.

In Indianapolis, McDaniels will get the chance to work with one of football's top talents at quarterback in Andrew Luck, provided Luck's health doesn't continue to hold him back.
