Saying he was bad as anyone just shows me you weren't aware of what you were watching. Criticize his play sure but that statement is accuracy

49.5 51 and 64 pffgrade for lake in the playoffs...which is an average of 53..which is in line with what i said.

Going to have to enlighten me with some specifics of where he was starting to " cook"

Problem is bend don't break zone schemes work if you have a great pass rush. Fangio' Eagles won last year with a great pass rush. Plus, they had a great outside CB in Mtchell, and a very good slot guy in DeJean.

The Rams need at least one top caliber CB and a much better pass rush. One that doesn't just rely on one or two guys to get there. Once Young lost a step with his knee issues, the pass rush fell off big-time.

Mitchell and dejean (who i wanted the rams to draft) were both all pro.

I do wish we would have blitzed more - feels like the only game we blizted a lot was Tampa Bay and we fucked them up good.

However when your corners are avg players at best - you can understand why the coaches don't want to be sending the blitz.

Why not blitz more and take a couple of chances? Their WRs are wide open. No DB even close to them. It's like damn they have one good receiver and he's just choosing whatever hole he wants. At least smack their QB around a little and maybe get a TO once in a while.

The concept that McVay’s preference dictates the type of defense that the Rams play is laughable even for a TST wannabe writer to suggest. You play the style your personnel dictates. Rams have smallish, slow footed safeties and corners. They play soft coverage to try to make teams work their way down field. Press coverage with this secondary personnel would look like Darious Williams trying to trip up Shaheed in the opening drive on Sunday. Luckily he was able to trip him up to prevent the touchdown on the play but that’s what the whole season has looked like in the secondary. Rams have to invest some money in the back end of the secondary. Need for some speed has never been so great. McVay’s defensive philosophy will change once they get some players that they can trust in the back end of their defense.

Shula's running the defense that McVay prefers, the "soft zone bullshit" we all hate. If our defense is expected to take a leap sometime soon, there needs to be some investment made on that side of the ball and let the defensive coordinator open it up. I don't know if Shula's the guy to reinvent this defense but I'd be willing to give him the opportunity. But none of it matters if we keep doing the same thing over and over again.

Does McVay feel like changes need to be made? The rams had the 1st or 2nd point differential this year and the mighty Seahawks defense gave up more yards than the lowly LA defense and only 4 fewer points, and 7 of those could really be blamed on a special teams blunder. Having that many kicks blocked hopefully won’t happen again, that would’ve won a couple games this year.
It seems entirely possible that Mcsnead continues to go cheap on defense and does everything he can for Stafford.

Actually what's laughable is you projecting your feelings onto the situation. A lot of us have listened to his pressers and heard him say it multiple times.
